I brought her home this morning. She's real thin, and walking around like she's drunk, but she still wants to pick fights with my other dogs.

Hers's the offending plant:

Here is Brunsfelsia in tree form:

Another plant to really watch out for is Oleander (Nerium Oleander). It is incredibly common in Hawaii and California. In fact you see it every day growing in highway landscapes and medians, playgrounds and along driveways. Really drought-tolerant and convenient. Unfortunately it is one of the most toxic plants on earth.... it is either pink or white. I have often seen it on horse properties even.

It is so toxic that people have died from using an Oleander branch to roast a hog dog or marshmallow (assuming it wasn't because of a lousy diet)! When there used to be alot of Oleander in the middle of the Freeway around Los Gatos you'd see "drunk" birds because of their eating the berries. Susan

I don't know if dogs have nine lives, like cats, but this one has used up three or four of hers.

hey there say, chaz... that was terrible... very sorry to hear this...

was this plant always in your yard, before?

i had poke in my yard, at the old house... and it's berries are poisonous and other parts of it, so i did not plant it in the backyard...

patty liked to find berries on the ground, and i didn't want to take that chance... as the berries fall all over the place...

but-- i did have a clamy ground cherry, like a tomatoe bush, that i was not sure about... the fruit can be poisonous before it ripens (yet, they do not fall, until ripe) ... and, i did not know if this is from over comsuption or not...

well, i have two in an area where patty does not go, and i hvae thought a few times, if i am being to careless, though she never bothers the tomatoe plant, and its leaves are supposed to be poisonous, ...

after reading this, i may take it out, though patty is never in the yard alone...

thanks for sharing, so we can send our comfort to you, and so we can learn, as well...

god bless and my the ol' pupdog be well again, and strong, soon...
