I have high school memories of American football.
The truly amazing feeling with those games was that it was pitchblack as a winter night, but it was hot. One didn't even need a sweater. Blaring lights, jangling tinny loudspeakers, noise, friends, coke, and something going on down there on the field. Guys running with a funny ball and orange-blue pom-poms. But the warmth. So cool. That feeling has followed me through life. That's what much my travelling is about. The sub-tropic climate with heat in a winter night. Of course it was the same other evenings too, but it somehow got heightened being out with friends.
Almost the same with the baseball-games. In those it was the red earth. Very different colour. And the heat of daytime. The American South, it's very special, and Pensacola is really in the heart of it. The panhandle isn't Florida, it's the South.

This sort of garbage seriously makes me just not want to follow football anymore.
It's not just Denver losing; I thought that was a real possibility. But the (statistically speaking) NUMBER ONE offense in history getting SHUT OUT!?! Uhhh... something is VERY wrong with this picture. The Hawks are not THAT good, and the typical Denver team (God knows who THIS is that's playing) is not THIS bad!
Otherwise you've gotta say that the NFC/AFC spread is so wide that the AFC might as well not even be playing the game. I mean, clearly the AFC is so pathetic that it's a bunch of high-school teams compared to the real pros in the NFC. Right?
No, something is very, very wrong with this picture. This sort of blowout just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and it's going to linger for a long, long time.
