Well i sure the hell am! since pre season began, i have been gearing up for week 1 and beyond..
My Raiders play the Titans today.. Hope Jason Campbell can make it happen this year..
Saints looked good this week- Farve looks 40, LT has something to prove this year..
My pick for the big game: Saints-Jets: Saints will win by 3 or more..

as a Patriots fan since 1961 I've got to say it's going to be an exciting season, already has been... and with Randy Moss' trade it can only get more exciting...

How sweet it was watching the UW Huskies quiet the Trojaneum Saturday!
I was pleasantly surprised that we were not accosted on the way out.
I guess the Trojan fans were resigned to their fate. I gotta say they
don't really make much noise there; the place is like a morgue compared to Husky Stadium.

It's amusing that Kurt has it as "My Raiders". A triumph of modern marketing, that some believe that very highly paid, mercenary, professional athletes, other commercial products, and even businesses, are "ours" or "my". We're currently undergoing a marketing campaign, telling us to support "our" Canucks. What a crock!

I am tangentially rooting for the SF Giants in the playoffs... but I'm not that into it... I don't like negativity so I won't watch the Yankees though I hope the Rays take the ALCS, who knows...
so I'm done with baseball (which made the really bad decision to extend the season into October) they are the boys of summer not the fellows of fall or the guys of spring, after all. Admittedly, if the BoSox had made it I'd be watching... but they didn't and I'm not.
So it is onto Football, American Football, which will be over soon enough...
...there's no accounting for taste.

Well if you think of football as vicarious warfare (which I think it is), wanting our team to pummel the other team into a pulp is perhaps better than looking for another jingoistic war.
KC, 16-0 baby!
well, maybe not.

Well, it's good to know that you and I agree on something controversial, Kurt. I still have fond memories of the Raiders teams circa 1970, when they played an exhibition game each year at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. The interaction between the typical Raiders fan and the typical Berkeley freak (I was both at that time) was something to behold!
That intersection still exists. When Marshawn Lynch was in his last season at Cal, someone asked him to name his favorite NFL team. He responded that he was from Oakland, so he liked the Raiders. The reporter then asked if he'd ever sat in the Black Hole. Lynch replied, "Look, I said I like the Raiders. I didn't say I was insane."

Well! As long as we are talking college football:
How-bout them Boise State Broncos??
As a U. of Idaho grad, I used to hate Boise State football.
As a resident of a sparsely-populated state, with very little to be positive about:
I'm darn proud of "them Broncos."

Yo Kurt,
Nice to know that you are a fellow Raiders fan . . . I'm probably about 10 years older than you and was fortunate to witness some of the classic Biletnikoff, Branch, Casper, Davis, Guy, Matuszak, Toomay, Shell, Sistrunk, Stabler, Tatum, Upshaw, Villapiano . . . et al. action. The Raiders are not fully appreciated and comprehended in the modern football era. They have been a formidable entity, spanning most of football history . . . much has been forgotten by the modern NFL fan. May the Raiders rise again!
Cheers to The Kid!

Kurt, Kalimon, et al,
I am a Chiefs fan from back in the day of the best rivalry in the history of pro football, bar none: Chiefs-Raiders.
Mike Garrett, Lenny Dawson, Otis Taylor (I wore his 89 jersey), Curly Culp, Jan Stenerud, on and on. And I lived in Wisconsin.
