Sorry Damo for the loss of that furry little chest warmer! Man, the ST pups crossing over; must be some wild times goin' on over that rainbow bridge. May they all be meeting up and romping all over the place!

nita,
Yowza... that's one hairball story..So happy you didn't get hurt.

My friend and I talked about it yesterday. We didn't feel post-traumatized, but when driving now we both find ourselves watching out for that 18-wheeler coming around the bend at us.

eKat,
I hope this story doesn't get lost in a doggie thread

This doggie thread seemed just the right place to lose it. After all, there was a dog.

I know this sounds harsh to our deceased little buddies, but the second thought that crosses my mind when I hear of Taco pets passing on is...

Get another one.

The first thought is the obvious remorse. But as all dog lovers know, there are more out there waiting for a good home and a good buddy. And while we regret the passing of our little buddies, it doesn't mean you disrespect them or loved them less by getting a new buddy.

Life is a series of dogs. I don't say that lightly or to cheapen our love for them, but to exemplify our compassion to always want those furry little balls of glee around.

Cheers, dog-lovers. And rest in peace, Lucy. Say Hi to my Lucy (last dog), Rocky, Maverick, Pumpkin, Summit, Skadi, and all the other Taco Dogs. They romp together now.

Get another one.

I don't disagree with you Bluey, its just that the period of mourning is different for all of us. I lost my Lab a year ago this month and I'm just maybe starting to scratch the surface of thinking about....an adoptee. I did not want to do an injustice to a new adoptee by adopting too soon and perhaps inadvertenly comparing him/her to the pet I lost. I'm considering fostering through Golden Gate Lab Rescue first to make sure I am ready to become a full time "people" again. We shall see. Susan

You will know when you are ready for a new friend. I shall never have a dog like my first but that's the beauty of it. My dear pup Loki has her own specialness and... If I had her too soon, I would be blind to it.

Hanna's at least 14, but she's not too old to catch herself a gopher.

Apparently, she's getting too old to eat them on the spot, she carried this one into the garage before eating it, otherwise I never would have seen it.

14 is old for a lab, Chaz. She looks good!

She's been "14" for about five years now. I'm not really sure how old she is.

I found her about ten years ago, and the vet figured she was at least five then.

That look on Hanna's face appears to say,"My gopher...back off".

I'm sure she's a sweetheart like all labs, but you gotta let dogs have their prey. They get defensive.

Awesome looking dog.

Even a 3-legged dog needs exercise. Sophie on her third ascent of Mt. Baldy in the month of February.

Dogs can't count to four, so a three-legged-dog doesn't even know he's short a stick.
