TENAYA THREAD A CLASSIC!
Never read anything so classic.-RobbinsRevues
Never read nothing til this. Kinda nuts.-F.Foont
Love a good shaggy dog. Lauria's pretty shaggy, too.-BooDawg
Our review of this thread is long overdue.
Call me a Western hooknose snake if I didn't almost shout my britches reading this, seeing photos nowhere else exposed.
Or old "DonofTime" Lauria telling Lynne & Werner "I'm new..."--n00b writes really well when he remembers shtuff. Thank you, Don.
And the sometimes-crabby-but-always-right-or-so-he-believes sit and whisdom of The Werner Braun, who got it right: buncha cranky old curmudgeons.
Peter Haan, it's a technicality, dude. But you point out, some might say in error, that everybody in this tale is dead; but when I was reading it, I thought Lauria was telling the story, ya
get me? I had to stop, go back, re-read, then it was clear who was supposed to be telling the story, who was indeed in that nasty sleeping bag. I'm really glad it wasn't Lauria, and I don't want to borea, but...

For sure, Mouser, Don-of-time Lauria is very much alive and yeah he's incredible. And thriving!
My comment was a wistful memory of AB and Millis, and the gratefulness I feel towards them both and the sadness too. And that everyone should know, in case they didn't, that these critters had passed.

They rebuilt some of the tents behind the MTN School - Gas Station this spring and a old waterski was found under one of them. I was hopeful a part of history had been found but as you can see the bindings are different colors... Still pretty old

Remember Tenaya Lake water skiing episodes prior to 1978 too. Seems that by '78, skiing the T. Lake was already part of a "Great Tradition".

Love the 3rd photo. MAN, imagine if the rope had snagged on one of those rocks. Skier woulda been launched leftwards outta those skis.
I'm a barefoot water skier and am mildly disappointed they didn't jack the speed up to 40 mph and go for it.
Killer post, thanks.

In case you didn't get the latest Backside of Beyond newsletter there will be a gathering at Mill Creek Station, August 5, 2017, to celebrate the life and adventures of Bardini. This summer marks the 20th anniversary of his passing and Don Lauria, Roger Derryberry, and Mary Lou Long have organized the event. Come and red-line the fun meter!

We considered trying it on skis and pin bindings ... but went for the sure bet.
Definitely could improve the style!!!

^^^ Getting up on 3 pins with skis from the 70s would have been a challenge for sure. Not so hard anymore with boards that truly resemble waterskis!
If only those trees alongside the lake weren't so tall now :-)
