Lions v Lightning, hmm... I've seen maybe four lions in ca, felt them looking at me more than that. Saw two fulgerites (lightning strike record) on rock on crags along highway 108 on sunday, only learned about fuglerite sighting criteria in the last month or so. Hard to say, be careful, esp in likely situations, but I think lightning in general is the bigger hazard, even in 'the gentle wilderness'.
In someplace like greenie land the lightning is way more dangerous.
"A big ol’ gnarly pussycat at the base of OZ??? That is just too cool, um, I think… "- style edit; there is one that lives near the base of Texas Tower, Utah.

Looks more like a bobcat to me. Maybe a young lion, I suppose. He's built more like a bobcat though. Seems to have some spotting in his coat, and the large pointier ears...
