There's a couple of ST posters here and their usual rants that make Charlie Sheen seem perfectly normal...

RokJox comes to mind.

Btw, food for thought, is a "porn star" patently unqualified to babysit or to look after a child? Apparently so. Strongly implied if not stated by Ms Grace and her panel of experts. If so, news to me.

A part of me wants to see where the truth lies in all this, which experts were right and which wrong. Another part wants to see Charlie kick some tv pundit ass though. Hope it turns out that way.

He does have a certain undeniable charisma about him.

Kids were taken away late last night. Just saw him - calm, cool and collected - on NBC Today. My take: Charlie's getting reamed (1) by the media (2) by an overeager court and social services (reactive to the media). Of course we'll see how it plays out.

I think he's made some dead on criticisms of AA and other cult rehab programs.

Wrong.

Sure there are lots of people who have struggled with parts and pieces of AA, and it's not for everybody. But for him to come off like AA is a crazy cult built out of antique losers is irresponsible to the max.

In all these decades AA has saved many thousands of people. I've lived it and seen it with my own two eyes. There are things I admire about Charlie, but on that point he can piss up a rope.

"I cured myself with my mind." We'll see Charlie, we'll see. He's making grand claims after being sober for 72 hours? Big F*cking deal.

Someone on my art site is already doing post cards of the more outrageous quotes. Thank you Charlie for providing such a cornucopia of craziness.

I agree AA has saved lives, but Charlie's right, it has a 5% success rate. Thats really really bad.

Charlie hasn't "cured" sh#t. Most people with an addition are never "cured" and struggle staying sober their entire life.

I have to disagree with that also. It is a super difficult number to pin down. Here is an example from a professional rehab/not AA website.

In 1992, a random survey of 6,500 A.A. members in both the United States and Canada revealed that 35 percent were sober for more than five years; 34 percent were sober from between one and five years; and 31 percent were sober for less than one year. The average time of sobriety of members is more than five years. According to A.A. World services, the survey is designed to provide information to the professional community and the general public as part of its purpose to carry the message of recovery to those who still suffer from alcoholism.

So, it seems like they have approximately a 32% to 34% success rate. Which may be true. However, you need to read very closely. They surveyed “6,500 A.A. members and the average time of sobriety of members is more than five years.” How were these members picked? Who picked them? Random can mean so many things but it does not necessarily mean random. The 32% to 34% success rate is only for the people that remained members of A.A. What happens to the numbers if you add in all the people that left the program?

It's almost an impossible number to "know". I make no claim to 32-34% or whatever, but I call BS on Charlie laying it out there like 5% is a statistical certainty also, the word of God or something.

What do you think the success rate at Sober Valley Lodge will be?

Haha.

I don't know. But I for one am going to put my monopoly money on him nonetheless. I'd really like to see him succeed - on his tiger blood, Adonis DNA and pure determination - and then stick it to all his naysayers, those on tv the most. Starting with those two know-it-alls, Nancy Grace and Dr. Drew Pesky.

Nancy Grace has to be one of the most shameless hustlers I have ever seen on TV (I am ashmed to admit I actually saw her)

I'd like to see the Charlie Sheen/Nancy Grace deathmatch though.
