John: As I said before I don't have any answers, just my own fairly recent experience to share. I have a lot of learning and understanding to gain. Thanks for explaining your thoughts and beliefs so thoroughly.

Cragman: Wow!
And I thought I was serving by teaching social studies, science and reading to some 6th graders in a air conditioned, heated building with a decent cafeteria across the street!

John Moosie!

Jesus spoke of hell three times the amount of times He spoke of Heaven!
Like I recommended earlier, read the story of Lazarus and the rich man(Luke 16:20-25).

We are not attempting to prove to anyone, only Jesus Christ can prove His existence to you if you allow Him. And when He does it's 100%. He is Spirit. It is His presence, there is no doubt, it is an individual relationship.

"matty, I'm sorry your heart is so hard, but don't blame your negative experiences on God or Christians. Your bashing comes across as vomit."

yeah, it's amazing how specific a rant generator can be.

Not to argue but this was no sudden desire to die but a life long problem. I described it to you and you choose not to believe my words. That is the real negating factor. What kind of description do you need?

Perhaps a personal one and I can't help you with that. I do understand your perspective because I was of the same mindset. You may never be convinced by any type of description since you already have your mind made up.

I didn't think the light was there. It was there as much as I was. My desire to be alive was diminished to a point of only wanting relief. My only problem was the mess I was about to leave on the wall for my family.

Read some C.S. Lewis, an intellectual who went from atheism to worship. It might open some doors.

At least you are seeking an understanding, or I hope that is what your intent is. I know I was not. I merely had made my mind up about the realities of God knew there wasn't one.

The satellite launches I have watched live look far more amazing than
births, cell division or any other life sciences I have watched.

Their inside test chambers are awesome also, however no where close
to as awesome as the launches.

Cragman,
myself and a Jewish rabbi have been having a discussion lately for
the previous few days.

I may ask him if I can share some with you. He needs to answer
a difficult question I presented to him today first before I ask.

Peace to all...

I can't wait until tomorrow to see where the kidnapped couch travels to, what new music I can listen to, or what other choice thoughts on the spiritual realm have been posted. One thing is for sure "the taco" has become my premier form of entertainment and socialization other than 6th graders and dogs.

eKat- "my niece..."

It saddens me deeply to hear of you dear niece and I also know that she is resting in a beautiful piece. It's not within our knowledge to know the why or how could He alow it. She will live again and is at piece for now. She does remember you, and I am sure she talks to Jesus in regards of you. This may seem like some fairly pretentious statements but they are true.

Some may ask how do you know she is talking to Jesus? Well even the rich man in the story of Lazarus and the rich man, is talking with God and requesting to go and speak to his brothers and warn them of 'this place'. That confirms to me that we can indeed speak with Him in Paradise.

BTW Jesus does promise to return with us to set-up His Kingdom right here on earth for 1,000 years. I prefer to focus on that, rather than hell.

I also was nearly murdered by a serial killer when I was 8 yrs old(he allegedly murdered over 30 boy's, his name is Ed Ginn). I wrote about it in Norton's thread "Creationist take another strike...run to the dugout". It is message/post #1622.

EDIT:That would be the miracle I would like to share with you if you care to read it there.

I really appreciate the openess everyone has shown about an often very contentious subject. E-kat, Sooo sorry to hear of your niece. What a burden to so many. While I believe God was aware of what was happening, it is apparant that there was a human who performed such a heinous crime and we have all been given the free will to do so. Unfortunately, it will leave so many more victims than the original until they can each forgive.
This is not a perfect world but it makes for many opportunities to improve it and ourselves. The next existence will totally rock.

In 1962 the science fiction writer and visionary Arthur C Clarke proposed three Laws. The Third Law stated:

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".

Cragman,
I have not yet heard back from him today, though I think it's best to keep
it between ourselves because it deals with black mass and, not what is
seen from it.

"Well. . . photosynthesis, alone, is enough for a lifetime's worth of rumination"

I think it makes perfect scientific sense for a biological entity to take advantage of solar radiation as a power source for driving chemical processes.

If photosynthesis is a miracle then everything else in the universe must be a miracle. You can't have the forming of the solar system be an accident and then have God work on just a way for plants to convert energy.

But I think I already said that before in this thread.

I have no idea whether or not god exists, but i do think it's pretty much a total miracle (using the M word loosely) i'm still alive after 18 years of climbing considering all the times i've been completly run out, gripped out of my mind.
