does say in the old testament somewhere not to "to not spill you seed on the ground at night" during battle campaigns (when there on the road) or going into battle.
Haha. This is to bible reading as Monty Python is to the holy grail.
Onan was killed by God for spilling his seed upon the ground pulling out of his sister in law Tamar because it violated the principle of levarite Union, in which Onan was obligated to provide a child to her as a stand - in for his dead brother Er upon his death before having an male heir.
By doing so, Onan would inherit Er's wealth and deny it to the other heirs of Tamar.
What God killed him for was theft of inheritance.(Genesis 38:8)
8Then Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother." 9Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. 10But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.…
Pretty sure it's God's only killing for seed spilling.
