This thread rocks.
Neebee, nice clan you got there!
Larry, Slacker looks like a cool dog.
Ricardo, Labs are at home at the ocean, or any water for that matter.
Sherri, that pup is getting bigger! And is still puppy-cute.

Sadie joined our little family a week ago. She lived across the road with a man who could not figure out any way to handle her except to keep her tied, outside, to a 10-foot chain 24/7, no matter the weather. She escaped a few weeks ago, and ran over to where we live. So, the guy told us he really didn't want her, and would give her to us, if we wanted her. Our life isn't ideal for a dog...but, we had to help her. She is seriously underweight, and a bit neurotic. Who wouldn't be after living at the end of a chain?? But she is loving, affectionate, and seems appreciative of having a new home. She's been to the vet, had her shots, eats regularly, and sleeps inside on a nice soft pad every night, now. I'm cutting the tangles and mats out of her, slowly, and we go for walks, and play frisbee. She is a good dog!

CC thank you. She is beautiful. Sometimes saving a live can be a little trying. But it always makes us better people, for the trying.
In the last two months since Molly my new little girl Has come to us she has done things I would have gone thought the roof over a few years ago. Now I look at that poor little girl and think about all the progress she has made and how hard her life was before she got here & order another bag from Feathered Friends.

Good for you, Carolyn!! And congrats to sweet Sadie on landing such a good, happy home!!!
There is a great rescue group that does a lot of work to free chained dogs(ie--talking to owners, rehoming dogs, passing anti-tether legislation around the country...) Stories like yours and Sadie's are what it's all about. :))

Really nice to read, Carolyn C, what a cute dog... I bet as her security builds with you, her neurosis will diminish. Your post made my day.
My dog I got from a rescue shelter. She came from a situation where there were 10 cattle dogs left to run amok unsupervised. One day a big dog fight broke out, and my dog Asia got blamed for the whole thing. They took her to a vet to have her euthanized. It's really hard to believe! Luckily, cooler heads prevailed. Luckily, after 3 weeks of observation, the vet recognized there was no reason to put this dog down-she even tried many times to provoke aggression, to no avail. At this time, I knew I wanted a cattle dog, so the rescue web site had just posted her pic. The moment I saw her I knew she was my dog. My life wouldn't be as cool as it is if I hadn't adopted her. I'm incredulous anyone thought of putting her down. Comments I get from many people when she comes up to them are "wow, most cattle dogs are anti social, yours is so friendly", one lady even said she had a whole new outlook on cattle dogs personalities. I only bring this up to highlight what a travesty it would have been if she hadn't been brought to a good vet, she would have been killed.
These are the stories I love to hear about, way to improve Sadie's life!!!

This is the local stray dog in Athens. Everyone in the block feeds him, occasionally take him to the vet, etc. In a strange way, he belonged to the whole block that is located at the foot of the acropolis.
