Missing you guys already. :}

My families, "like Mom, why are you always needing to drive up North to have fun. Too much time and gas money in this economy."

Short answer....seems like most of my friends are up there either on the East Side or West Side.

I said to daughter, "why is it I have no climbing friends in San Diego?" Her response, "we are all too superficial in So. Cal."

Really ?

Edit: now I'll pro get in trouble.....

So just got off the phone,,,,the hood is gathering, Steck is there. And I am here. :{

Anyone want to trade homes....SD for Bezerkeley? Nevah thought I'd be asking this question.

Yo, no one in SD or LA could commit to having John B host a slide show few months back. The North did, CO did, SE did, Europe did.....I'm scratching my head.

Well Ed Hartouni....I love you as a bro cause you have made this sad heart feel a tiny bit better....really mean it. Yo made me feel better. Thanks so for taking the time to post. And I am sad.

I just love this community which is why I am so sad at not being there to experience this special evening. Perhaps I feel so strongly because I have been gone for so long and newly back. Hope you all realize how incredibly special and great you EACH are. Perhaps some Peace tonight, lynne

And (Please stop counting my posts Sir Caylor,,,,hehehe) probably no one will remember to take pictures and post them here.

Oh Woe is Me.... Chris McNamara you need to hire lynnie at a minimun fee to be your on site reporter for all this stuff. I can live on a pittance...zeriously. Kinda like Shakespeare's characters that lived on porridge and a solid kick in the butt. :D

Oh Woe is me.......no fun for me.

So how did this go down? I've heard one enthusiastic review. Indian Rock action first?

Hey Jaybro,
Indian Rock was low key. dmalloy, Steck"s, grandson, Michael, klk and I working on easy stuff. Enjoyed ourselves. Then klk did some nice work up at Mortar Rock.

dmolloy gave a very informative and fast paced presentation. He's a very good public speaker. I know a lot about the new wilderness area now.

The movie was great. The new commentary by Roper and Steck is low key, self deprecating, humorous, historically interesting with a little quiet needling of each other. Really enjoyable.

A few of us had beers at Pyramid after. A very good evening.

I heard it was full and they shut the door and no more could get in if a little late. I also heard it was awesome from some of my sources that were there. Will try and make the one in Bishop... is it ?

This time I will use Jaybro's approach for leaving work.

And Lynne, what about cultivating some Mt Woodson Friends? Tons of climbing. I've traveled to be there. On any given weekend there are even people our age pulling down.

Simple Truth Jaybro, I don't know how. You know me, I would if I could. I'm not exactly shy and I do like fun. Jess can't figure out how to make it happen here. Josh good, Apple Valley good, the North good, SD the only contacts I have are beach people.

It's ok, I'll figure it out somehow. Like my Friend told me today (who lives up North of course) The Future is The Moment. Peace, Lynne

Helloo....I gotta check in with a new avatar someday. this dmalloy stuff is a bit weird.

Anyhow, hanging a bit with Zander was a great highlight of Berkeley - the smile looks the same through his truck windshield as it does in photos. All his TRs have a great energy, and it is right there all over him. The baguette from Acme Bread Co that I just finished for dinner was another big payoff.

There is a wall out at the Tungsten Hills rocks around here that my wife always jokes would make the perfect "backyard boulder". Turns out that Indian Rock would probably be even better. Lots of fun stuff packed in there, although Michael and I only had about 45 minutes to check it out. Good memories for him, the slab next to the stairs is the first place he ever did any climbing - bowline-on-a-coil in the 21st century for that kid. Kerwin/klk was getting a pretty good workout, my lack of recent climbing had me struggling to deal with some pretty juggy traverses.

It was a lot of fun to have that room at REI packed, with many of the people there long-time Berkeley climbers who clearly know how to have a good time. Another "tribal" gathering.

A fall show in Bishop, possibly combined with a volunteer day to get the trail system at the Peabodies finished, seems destined to happen. Maybe November 10? Once we get the right folks together, I will look forward to giving you all the details - with a bit more advanced notice this time.

Last thing....one more plug for our organization, without which there would have been no reason to get everyone together last night. We are interested in the conservation of Public Lands in the Eastern Sierra, and we want anyone else interested to help out with your sweat, ideas or contributions. http://www.friendsoftheinyo.org

dmalloy, don't know if it matters, but with the Facelift the end of Sept. it may be difficult for people to take off again so soon. I can only plan stuff once monthly due to work. You have alot of great people and fun, Peace, Lynne

glad to hear the show went well. i missed it. had to wait for the boss to escape from work, and by the time we got there, the room was already full.

good meeting dmalloy and michael and seeing zander again, fresh from mt. goode.

wildone was up at mortar, but had work issues that kept him away from the film.

having constant work issues may suck, but the alternative looks a lot worse

klk, were you standing outside the door watching the film thru the window? if so, i was standing right behind you.

we got stuck in traffic before the bay bridge so were late and by the time we got to REI couldn't get in due to the big turnout. hope to see the film sometime in the future!

Hey supertopians.

It looks like lots missed out on seeing this film.

Come up to Santa Rosa on August 7 to meet Allen Steck and watch this film of the third ascent of the Salathe Wall.

A plug for the show in this thread.

Two out of three of that ascent team. Always hard to pull up a photo of the illusive Roper. All three of these characters were mentors to me growing up in Berserkley.
Oops, found one of Roper.
