Look, in a typical Stoney Point encounter the shaved head is going to be close. A few feet. So is not a .22 more than enough? Look this is a gun for bouldering. My selection is small, will fit in a fanny pack. Okay, maybe some Trad. Euro trash trying to pass on Fairview?

Might could be. Take a gander at them J frame S&W's. Model 351PD: 7 shot, .22mag, under 11oz. Spicy! As I recall, you have kinda smallish hands...might be a good fit.

Should I go with a Walther?

In 9mm "kurz", not so bad. Neat features. Decocker. Cartridge indicator. Size wise, might work.

Cost?

400 to 500 (and on up), depending on condition, new/used.

Hey, Juan, shoot me...uhhh...send me an email. I might need another tour of Stoney, or other So Cal local, one of these daze.

" Maybe ya'all could swap spit with the "which knife should I carry on my lead rack" kooks! HAHA!! " -

That's easy - my Curry Cafeteria butter knife I stole - best damn cleaning tool on the planet!!

By the way, Magnificent Seven is a great western. Paint Your Wagon is a Gold Rush Saga my friends - GOLD! " The best things in life are dirty, filthy dirty like gold, gold, GOLD " ( and climbing too )!!

Screw the Mini 14 - I can blow yer eye out at 300 yards, or yer head off at 600 yards, with iron sights, with my M1A with 10-1 twist Krieger barrel and 168 grain Match King boat tail hollow point ammo. Get a real rifle - get a match conditioned M14 clone!

Hey buttwipenancy1 is that some sort of veiled threat?
If your so anti gun/knife, your awfully bold to be talking
shit to a "wacko" like me?
How many guns do you have?
Do you even know the right direction to point one?
Talk is cheap so don't bore us with your wimpy insults.

By the way, don't ever shoot anyone with a .25 auto. If they ever realize what you've done, they'll be really pissed.............

So back to dark deserted road outside of El Paso. The truck stops, and a crazed looking junkie tpye asks if I need some help. All the while his existance hangs in the balance. I ask him if he can go find the nearest phone and call the highway Patrol.

He has a better idea, I could leave the coed and go with him to make the call.

I tell him that is not such a great idea. He insists.

He is still in his truck at this point, and hence is still living.

My pappy caried a .22 Astra when his job description included spying on Mafia dons, (LEO). Just recently handed down to me, I asked him why he picked that over a .32 9mm etc.

Answer, "From three feet away I should be able to triple tap them in the head or I'd better find a different occupation".

And, it was thin enough not to produce the S&W bulge.

Still, I'd go with a Glock 19 with a NY trigger spring for a civy carry piece. The Sig's have got the crispest trigger of any pistol I've ever shot though. If I only bought one piece, that would be it for all round use including punching paper. That 44 mag titanium Tarus looks nice, but I don't think I'd want to shoot it more than once.

Nearly as good as the other two Rugers is the PC4.

M7, and GB&U are two of the best, but don't forget The Professionals (changed my life) and The Wild Bunch.

More recently the best ones have Robert Duvall, like Geronimo and Open Range.

there's less broken glass there than in the 80's due to regular clean-up days. not a place i'd hang out late at night but in twenty years of going there i've never had a problem.
same as it ever was...

Agree with pud. Never felt unsafe bouldering there until dark for 3+ years. I'm not against guns at all, but it seems a bit excessive if Juan is indeed talking about bouldering at Stoney. Or maybe he's been chipping holds and pissing off the local boys...in which case, a gun wouldn't help.

;) (just razzing)

A lot of opinions here. I always carry a Berreta 25 or 32 when in the back country. When traveling, though, I take along a S&W 357. My understanding is that the 357 has more stopping power than a 45. Is that correct. I did check the two against a chart denoting MV and FP. I also own a Sig 45 and SW 45 Chief Special. I'm always concerned ,though, with jamming in a emergency.
