I just tried to drive through JT via the 29 Palms entrance, the road was a mess, gate was closed, we bailed and went to eat Chinese.

Drat, no rain here, just a gorgeous sunset...all the weather blew out.

Hey, Bluto is probably just a relaxed kinda dude.

Rad. I've always wanted to see a flash flood in the desert.

thanks sooze, I sorta guessed it was for improvised drainage...

...the street scene is pretty wild though, suggesting that a back hoe might have been more useful.

Uh Russ, did I say DRINK the beer or use the cold beer to ease the pain??? I meant to use the cold beer as a compress to ease the pain....but then again....I'd drink the dang thing, then put the cold bottle on what ever it was we were talking about that hurt. Hope the rains ease and does Susan know how lucky she is to have such a freakin stud like you around to single handedly save the whole town from a biblical flood. I would have figured you would have just gone out and demanded the waters to part from your property and you and yer boat of animals would have been saved forever! Russ YOU are my hero!
Peace

Oh yeah Russ don't forget to send that large check in the mail for the "consult" or insult, whichever fits the "bill".

Way to go Russ.

Glad everything turned out OK.

If you've never been in one of these desert flash floods it's hard to imagine how quickly they occur and much runoff is generated.

Happy to hear you made it though okay, Russ. The neighborhood should rename the street after you.

Yeah, those desert flashfloods Are amazing! I have experienced them on a number of them on occasion.

Next time you're driving under one of those underpasses in Tuscon, on a bone dry 109º day in July, note the ruler like markings on the wall on either side of you, in one foot increments, there is an important reason for this.
