NOT a good idea to take the media to Camp 6. Even though popular wall bivies that have trash/ schitt in them exist, they represent less than 1/1000th of 1% of the total sq feet of the worlds climbing terrain. No matter how the TV show spins it, the public will take home the message that climbers are litterbugs and schitt on the rock.
How many times havehave you been asked by people "so, um, how do you go to the bathroom up there?"
This TV show will provide that answer- we ALL litter and we ALL schitt on the rock.
And that's how they will take it. The misedeeds of 1 in 1000 climbers will reflect on us all. Kinda takes away from the good message that we're generating with the face lift.
We should still make an effort from within the climing community to clean up after ourselves.
Let me be the first one to volunteer my services for the Camp 6 clean up. I just don't want some bozo actor and camera crew there with me.
I don't mind gross disgusting work. Mind over matter really. I'll be out there at the facelift Fri-Sun.
Who else wants to help?

I am inclined to agree with you Cragnshag. There is plenty of cleaning to do involving ropework, like the Mist Trail.

That's a Magic Place, too. Needs TLC. And you definitely can beat the Heat there....

Bump.
Okay Ken - I FINALLY got my post up at their forum - so there's another vote for a Dirty Job.
BTW - if you use the word "poop" in your post - they delay the message for a day.
Odd - since all Mike Rowe does is shovel the stuff every week.
Go figure.

I dissagree with cragnshag. The facelift is about cleaning up stuff that others either left on purpose or accidently. Camp 6 trash included. It could easily be explained that what a few do can ruins the area for others, and or in this case what a few do makes it a better place for others and sets an example.
Whatever is decided my hat is off to you and others who will be attending the facelift this year. I wish I could make it.

I checked the Dirty Job website and found a thread from a Yosemite perimeter Campground worker that mentioned the vast amounts of trash she has been cleaning up. I bumped both threads to the top. I guess this problem is everywhere.

P.S. If anyone can get me up to Camp 6... I'll join Cragsguy in the clean up of that (mess?) Hell, any part of El Cap needs clean up... you take me there, I'll clean it.... Am I getting in over my head? I mean... How messy is it up there? Never been.
