Bear 46 had a nice time I think though he had to return home to attend to Yosemite business before I did.

Here are some more photos from the rough side of the island. It was spectacular...

pc - I am open to suggestions as to how to make the 15 year vacation a reality. :)

Very cool !!! Glad you had fun. A friend of mine is down there right now on her first scuba vacation. Fun, fun, fun. Im with murcy, those waves don't look very good. They also don't look that rough. Why the red flag? Are there bad currents offshore?

Murcy, Murcy, Murcy. Where are those waves? Is that on the pacific side?

I Love the ocean...... :-)

Crimper--

well, that looks like a relaxing time. The first 25 years of my life were spent within minutes of the ocean. Just seeing pictures brings up those feelings of longing. . . . Sounds like you were more than ready for a break--good on you for just buying a ticket and going. 15 year vacation? Sometimes there is such a deep feeling of tiredness deep inside. . . those fantasies of escape, a simpler life, driving around on a scooter with chairs strapped to the back. . . .

Thanks for sharing and the tropical hit.

for a long time I made the mistake of making my vacations work related - big mistake.

normal vacation = good common sense.

True. I have this deep feeling of tiredness deep inside you describe. Feels like it won't go away though I guess it will. And escape - yes, that'd be nice. Maybe a 15 year vacation is asking too much. I'll settle for 12 years. :)

I've already live a super lean lifestyle, but I still want to be rid of more. For example, I look at my dining room with it's table, two chairs and some plants and all I can think about is selling the table and chairs. Possessions are so oppressive to me.

Crimpie no offense to you. An FYI on "all inclusives" Beware of the impact of all inclusives especially in the Carribean. My family is from a few different of the less developed southern Carribean islands and (I'm Proud to say) are fighting the "ALL inclusives" with a passion.

All inclusives are entitiies of greed. They "broker" a slick deal with an island politician ($$$$$kickbacks$$$) and then take much more from the island than they give. All inclusives pre-empt the tourist from supporting local eateries and hotels. They set loose all the gringos to trample around to the "sites" sometimes even avoiding paying local guides.

Climbers are an adventurous lot. Next time (you) go to a small place consider it like a 10R lead.... (you) may have a much richer experience, and will certainly get a truer cultural one.

Not directed to you crimpie. I like you to much. BUT it is an oppurtunity for me to spread a good word . Peace out FLACO

EDIT: Crimpie did you wear a path in the concrete?......And yes it true there is a time and place for everything ...well almost

Spend those hard-to-use airline miles now, book a free flight to the tropics for spring break '08. (Wait much longer and the free seats mostly vanish.) It's something to look forward to already.

No worries Pennsylenvy - no offense taken. I generally do the more adventuresome style vacationing. On occasion, being a lazy tourist is needed though. The only thing I trampled was a path to the pool side. :)

Despite the lack of PC-ness, those resort/package rigs are the way to go when you need the big RELAX--keeps the decisions to a minimum and all that. Make it up a little with a big tip to the maid.

Once, as we were installing this big Jacuzzi tub in a guys house, the homeowner said to me: I don't have any kids--think of the energy I've saved by not having children. He had a good point. So live it up Crimpie!
