Well, the $2300 price tag doesn't exceed my budget, but factoring in an extra $4K to bring along a 5-star escort from SF puts it beyond my monthly disposable income unless I borrow on my equity. Want to save that for a rainy day however . . .

Tempting nonetheless, but maybe next year?

I paid $850.00 for a single night at the Awhanee last summer, so $2300.00 for three nights in a private cabin plus dinner sounds like a screaming deal.

I'll have what he's having.

I paid $450 for a night in the city one time and felt hollow and empty, raped by the system.

I'm sure it's a grand affair, but pomp and circumstance doesn't hold water with me.

What's the cache, the draw for an event like this?

I'm not downing on the gala, just wondering why people pay so much for contrived events. Is it status?

When I worked there Mary Curry was still living in a very modern apartment (compared to the rest of the hotel) on, I believe, the fifth floor, maybe the sixth. The elevator door opened right into her living space. It was pretty wild... always fantasized having the place as my own!

Some day when I win the 300 million lottery, I'll just move in to a high end suite full time.

oops, my other picture was too big....

Greg good luck selling your tickets..

Sally, The jester was juggling flaming sterno cans..so when he dropped one, the gel spread, people screamed..and a employee grabbed the fire extinguisher and put out the fire...at least that's my memory..that it was little sternos...

Here's an idea:

Make it a lottery, say $20 for a chance to win here on ST. Any amount raised *over* your cost donate to the Supertopo charity of your choice (access fund, various get-well/best-wishes folks in need, etc.)

Sell 115 tix to recoup, sell more and someone benefits?

Is the sweet shop still in the Ahwahnee? Fond memories of having a milkshake or a banana split there. I remember once spending my last $3 on one of those treats; so I wouldn't have to worry about what I needed to save it for.

Love the pic, Nita! Terry Counts was my roommate for awhile at the dorm. I must have been at the other end of the dining room for the jester excitement.

I just put it out there among teacher friends in Fresno. One or two have hubbies who make good money. I hope you don't mind.

FF:

If you threw in a few extras (e.g trip up to the lake to see plane remnants and possibly score some antique weed), you'd probably have better luck.
