Wes, it's PS, probably my favorite obscure cragging area.

Funny, because the two areas in the immediate vicinity are fairly well known places, but the granite is not very popular.

I still need to go back and explore farther down the range and deeper into the cyn.

Yeah those are the "crummy" out takes from when we talked Greg Epperson into going up there. I can't post the good ones, they are rightfully his. One did get picked up for a Patagonia catalogue a couple years ago. As I recall, I made the women's underwear page (right where I belong!)

It might not surprise you, but it sure surprised us as we were heading to the base of what we thought was the route when the actual route emerged from the clouds.

Uhhh...it's supposed to be "hidden" as opposed to right next to Hwy 395...

But I guess it's always hidden behind the constant, 365-day-a-year fog and rain of the Sierra eastside?

Greg - you nailed it. The fog out here is terrible. Almost as bad as the humidity...

I consider this spot a gem because nobody out here knows anything about it, or really climbs there - even the locals (at least to my knowledge, and believe me, I have inquired). I'm planning on making a long trip up there during the summer to really check it out, so expect a trip report.

They said post up you're hidden GEMS
That place is only for the most desperate of times.
I've encountered better rock on a water tower.
If that is your GEM, you really need to get out more.

EDIT: They are in hiding at the moment.
