Each 24 hours of even slight progress is just that, progress. Sitting up even briefly is huge. Yeah!

Hi everybody. I heard from Scotts sister Lori yesterday. She was with him at the hospital and said he is awake and responding. I guess it's hard for him to talk because he still has the trac in his throat, but she said he smiled and said I love you back. He may be moved from ICU soon and will be able to receive visitors, flowers, etc. Thanks for all of your continued love and support! Xo

Apparently Cozzy's been moved out of ICU to a pulmonary ward.
He's responding to what's going on around him but still not clear on why he's in the hospital or exactly who's who.
Probably standard stuff if you land on your head from thirty feet.
All in all, he's making good progress and a complete recovery is still expected.
Will continue to update as things develop.

Thanks for the update. Making it out of the ICU alive is a big triumph in itself as most people don't. Things are definitely going to get better from here.Still sending positive energy.

Am I wrong in thinking that it's probably a good thing that, for now, Coz is "still not clear on why he's in the hospital"? What I mean is, given the extreme nature of his accident and injuries isn't it probably for the best that he doesn't also have the emotional trauma of remembering and fully realizing everything just yet?
That said, I am of course pulling for him to eventually regain all cognitive function.
Thanks to everyone providing the ongoing updates. It's great to hear these encouraging reports.

Much of that missing memory in the near vicinity of the accident can be very related to any meds administered during the initial response, too. I didn't quite realize that until the last pharmacology update in continuing ed....and we like it when patients have no memory of the very intrusive work that has to be done to initially stabilize them.
