Super cool story! I love the patina. that 1940s truck would not be a fraction as cool if it was newly painted and polished.

Small World File M490867:
I had a girl friend in Seattle whose family owned Pacific Car and Foundry which bought
Peterbilt in 1958. I shoulda tried to get a discount on a rig.

Show tractors are ok but I really get touched by working rigs. Saw this International 966 on a working dairy farm this afternoon near Clairmont NH have not been by my favorite tractor shop in awhile but was able to swing through there on my way to Wallmart Vision center. Not shure who came up with the name for these guys? I know DMT likes his crawlers

Here’s a couple of units I ran across in Esquel, Argentina during a trip in October.
First is a Fordson tractor from the ‘20’s, I think
And next is a 1890’s steam engine that ran a threshing machine from J.I.Case.
And a 1916 smoke box door, which is a bit of Art.
I was born in Argentina because my dad sold Case machinery.

Not exactly a tractor, but close.
The mrs and I decided to take a ride on the Old Patagonian Express. It had been sold out for weeks, but we decided to tour the museum anyway.
I told the museum folks my dad also worked for Balwin-Lima-Hamilton, the kings of steam in the old days. All of a sudden I became royalty, since about 2/3 of the locos on the line were Baldwins and got invited to ride in the loco.
It was a German Henschel, not a Baldwin, but still pretty cool. Recently restored, it was spotless.
The machinador was Carlos, who can be seen through the window. He was intrigued when I told him his job in English was engineer. In Spanish, ingeniero is a guy with a pencil and slide rule.

Here’s my beloved tractor. It’s a 1978 John Deere 1050, 4WD which is awesome, 60 inch blower unit mounted up front and a 72 inch blade on back. It chews thru the snow. I’ve owned it for 30 years and it still has less than 2000 hours on it. Great tool for winter.
