not sure why I have a great reticence for selfies... some residual protestant inhibition?
Ed, you sure that you aren't, like me, part Yanomami?

I haven't posted here until now; I hate the term "selfies!" Crass, idiotic, and totally bullschitt. I align my self with Locker's early-on post: Self-portraits!
This is not being directed towards anyone previously posting to this thread, and least of all to a recuperating Anita!

Don't go getting pouty on us Anita. I love this thread even though I don't have any selfies ( prefer self portrait ) to share. I love the humor. I love the insights into personalities. I love the cool places people have been. I love the creativity that people show. I love how people take their perceived weaknesses and turn them into strengths. If I could capture that and sell it I could make a fortune, but mostly I would just love to be able to do it for myself.
You go girl. Get well. Spend this time getting well exploring some other things and please keep sharing them with us. I think it took a lot of courage to take the course you are on right now and I admire that. You are on the road less traveled.
Okay.. some folks will whine now that I'm too mushy… Well, screw them.

How many rock faces, ice flows and mountains need I summit to get my fill, how important is this obsession really in the grand scheme of things vrs how important do I tell myself it is.
For me, it's just about doing the act. Being one with nature, enjoying the views, challenging myself, enjoying what this planet has to offer us. If i get to the top that's great.(at least that's what I try and tell myself lol)

Clearly its important, I can't stop and I wouldn't if I could!
Great pic, it clearly captures that contentment we all identify so much with.

Cool,
Solo aid lead is high on the bucket list this season if I can get this hoof healed up in time?
Being from the east and only having climbed for a small handful of years now free climbing is pretty much what I do. I do have a fantasy that involves solo big wall missions out west that sooner or later i intend t make reality.

It's all climbing.
I am pretty sure I will have as much fun teaching myself how to aid my way up the Prow on Cathedral Ledge in NH as I will my first big wall.
Not sure why the solo part sound so appealing to me?

Lol, not sure either. I was using a unmoded GriGri with clove hitch backups and boy is it a pain. Lol. Belayers are nice to have. It's kinda cool to just be all by yourself too tho. A good skill to have for sure.
Anita- bummed today?

no it's fine. I can take a hint.......................... I know when I'm not wanted. I wouldn't be too concerned about that posted article,
unless you find yourself doing the mirror cleavage with heavy makeup selfies. :-)
It's normal for a young single woman to stay attractive, communicate with others and express her feelings.
Much better than locking yourself away with nonstop nachos!
Given that some of your usual entertainment options are blocked until your leg treatment is finished, and the pain level may prevent other projects, it's not unusual to post and shoot photos a bit more than before.
Hang in there, think, dream, express - it's all part of life.

You nailed it but I try not to admit that is how I really feel as its an attitude that does not bide well to finding good climbing partners.
If climbing has taught me anything is not only how to deal with people and a willingness to do so but also an appreciation for people that I did not have prior. Even the ones that drive me f*#king nuts and I don't see eye to eye with at all I have learnt to at least tolerate and In some ways even appreciate. I attribute it directly to climbing, it was a quality I was desperately in need of.
Still I posses your above stated sentiment at my core and imagine always will. I just know it is best to resist the temptation to sink to deeply into it. Non the less I remain largely self reliant and fulfilled as it is just what feels natural to me.

I got into climbing via ultr running. My draw and appeal to that was long amounts of time spent ALONE in the mountains.
I came to ultra running after burning out on cycling. Racing bicycles you spend many many hours all by yourself week in and week out in the saddle. I loved this part of cycling. I enjoyed the racing aspect also but hated the emphasis put on competition. I love competing within myself. It gets ugly when people start competing with people imop. At least this is what racing taught me about myself.
I think I will really really like solo aid climbing. From what I am told and can figure aid climbing is nothing if it is not work. Being a reformed endurance athlete junkie I think I will thrive on the work aspect. I hope the solo component to just be the icing on the cake.
Do you have any goals set with regard to the nose. Before this foot I was thinking of trying my first solo big wall not this season but next season.
