Damn Ricky. I'd tell you to have the owner put to sleep, but...

I say you cut out their cage or otherwise release them, after collaring and tagging them. Let them go find the police, and let the owner face down the squalor and criminal behavior himself. If you think you need to do something more, you do, in this case IMHO

Thanks for the support you guys! I will adopt another when the time is right. in the meantime though I do have a few questions for the dog lovers out there that live where its cold.... not Phoenix. I took Crick up to play in the snow a few times, in Flagstaff and Pagosa springs... She loved it for maybe 20 or 30 minutes and then it was obvious she wanted back in the truck. Watching her trying to squat on ice for the first time was a hoot! aside from it getting down to freezing heres a few nights a year, she was very used to the heat, spending all day everyday with me out in my shop which has no AC, and could walk on scolding hot asphalt without thinking twice. I assume it simply comes down to conditioning, but how do dogs that grow up in the cold and snow do it comfortably?

And having a pom in phx outside in the summer means some serious grooming so they don't burst into flames!

The one eyed, no tail flying purple skier eater - Josie (she can’t help it being a herder).
Poor Josie is recovering from knee surgery, a common injury with skiers.

Oh Crick...Dog Speed to you.

Looks like everyone else is having fun...especially the diva Josie (well except for the knee).

I just got back from a trip sans Teddy :-(. When I’m gone without her she stays at a ranch and does all those doggy ranch things. When I show up she’s happy to see me but I can also see she’s going to miss her “ranchin” stuff.

So now we need to get on our winter adventures!

May all the doggies and their hoomans have a great winter.

We got some snow here at the house:

And "a dog's life?" To these girls, the entire snow-blowing session is nothing but a fetch game (from the snowblower chute almost directly into their mouths - and then they have to pee every 20 minutes for the rest of the day):

My two beasts love the snow. They haven't drank from the water bowl for weeks. They would rather eat snow and ice. It is -8F here now and it doesn't even faze them.

My dog Xander has his own Instagram page, he’s just over a year old now. There are photos documenting his growth. He’s a Pitbull Mastiff mix, and is the friendliest dog I’ve ever met. Energetic for sure, but so darn happy and friendly. Not a mean bone in his body. Pits are only mean if you train them to be that way, Xander is a 90 pound love muffin.

He’s currently curled up next to me, showing me love as I deal with the sadness of impending divorce. Best dog ever. Check the link.

GOtta watch out for hyponatremia with doggies pounding that much fluid through the system there Mtnyoung. But yeah, they love it!

And Brandon, I am so relieved to hear that you got you megabeast by your side in this tough time. This is great to hear. Keep on following your path and that dog will stick with you, through the best and through the worst. Stay strong, and remember how much that dog would love to go share some clean-generated endorphin relaxation!

So I adopted this troubled dog 8 weeks ago. She's almost 2 years old and was an absolute emotional mess.

She has quickly blossomed into my number one bouldering and trail work partner and is truly an amazing family member.
