This sounds great!
I'm going to try to make it...maybe I can serve some coffee with the other agency tools!? I love the Milks, it was my first stop in California as a climber, and they will always have a special place in my heart.
Looking forward to DR's show, and helping at the Buttermilks.

Hey Mike! Haven't seen you since bakery days it seems like...although maybe we ran into each other in Tuolumne sometime? Or maybe your picture was in someone's TR lately. Anyhow, since you're the only one who's voted so far, maybe I'll try out a vegan cookie recipe for you!

We're putting together swag for the Sat night raffle.
Admission is $10 which gets you one raffle ticket, beer, wine and treats PLUS Doug Robinson's slide show and talk.
You can buy more raffle tickets if you want to have a fighting chance. (unashamed begging for more $$)
Sorry, no reserved tickets. We plan to accommodate all comers. I do suggest you come early as I suppose it is possible to fill the room to capacity.
It's wonderful to see such support for improving a popular bouldering area.
Us out of towners will most likely be camping at The Pit which is north of Bishop on the north side of 395. $2 per car per night I believe. I'll have to find it myself since I've never been there.

118°30'39.87"W
BLM directions:
Work party 9:00 Sat morning at the Buttermilk. A great way to give back, socialize and meet new people.
Oh, did I mention PARTY, free beer, wine and snacks on Sat night AND a raffle/silent auction?
I'll also bring a begging bucket to collect voluntary donations. Checks made out to AAC-Buttermilks will get a tax deduction statement back from AAC.
We're planning to get the vault toilet funding complete and the toilet installed next year.
We're short about $4000.
We: American Alpine Club, Access Fund, East Side Climber's Coalition and Friends of Inyo in cooperation with BLM and US Forest Service.
With a lot of support from Eastside businesses and climbing shops.

WOW. THe road is really crap. I had not been out there in a while and the rain just RUTTED the road. Some areas, you may need to back up and go around some of the water cuts on the road. Now there are drainage pipes showing, making more work for the next grading...ya if that ever happens.
If they were waiting for the road to be worse...it is now. I think the Bishop city chamber of commerance has something in there advertisement of the Milk's as seeing the largest boulders in the state or county or something. If I wasnt a climber I would not be driving out there.

Hello all from the East Coast....Sarah and I are flying back west tomorrow, we'll be on the Eastside by Friday. We have learned some things in three weeks out here, including...
somedays, it is cold -
somedays, it snows -
somedays, the weather is fine -
somedays, you have to grill up a grass-fed burger to eat on seedy ciabatta, with avocado, tomato and bel paese cheese -
and on a lot of days, it rains and rains and rains -
I'm excited to get home and help get everything else ready for Doug's show next weekend. I hope a lot of you are planning to come up, and bring some friends with you. It should be a lot of fun.
I will point out that upthread there someplace, my wife offered to bake whatever cookies some of you requested. So far, only our old bakery colleague Mike has chipped in with a request....others? There must be some of you who want a few cookies to go along with your beer.
Home soon...

ok, time for the roll call....who is coming?
There is going to be some great stuff available on Saturday night - a bouldering pad, a few pairs of Chacos, lots of other good prizes. Come be a part of things. As further enticement, it is freakin' beautiful here right now - about 80 during the day in Bishop, big bright moon at night, perfect weather for anything except igloo construction. But things are supposed to get cold on Sunday, so you can have sunshine for volunteering on Saturday morning, and then nice, cold sticky temps on Sunday for sending your project.
We'll see you all here....

Also Technical Friends, and other goodies.
There will be a raffle. You get 1 ticket with your $10 admission. You may buy more tickets of course!
There'll also be a silent auction.
Did I mention the legendary Doug Robinson will give a slide show? Please don't ask what he's legendary for.
Did I mention the free beer and wine?
Did I mention the work party at 9:00 AM on Saturday at the Buttermilk?
Did I mention the coffee and climbing on Sunday at the Buttermilk
Proceeds from this event will go to help fund a vault toilet at the Buttermilk to be installed in 2010. AAC is partnering with Access Fund, Friends of Inyo, East Side Climber's Coalition and USForest Service.
AAC has raised over $1300 already this fall, about $2700 more to go from the AAC
Let's make this happen

Re: roll call - I'm in. The Bird's piton pounder is making threatening remarks that I need to take it to the Eastside to see some friends. Damn, this hammer has an attitude...
Guess it is jealous 'cause it can't float a #16 olive wooly bugger.
