This is very sad. If there is a person who has the fight in them it is Tacos. Will post account info when I find out. Am working on it.

I met her along time ago in the Creek. Did alot of cragg'n with her and she did a few towers with Kevin ( the dude who did the second of Meditarreno and the infamous climbers from the non rescue on magic mushroom) forget his last name...andrews?

on a sad note: working in the ER here on maui spinal injuries are "critical patients". One patient that I cared for needed to be flown back to Oregon from Hawaii.... cost of a med flight: 45k that was after 2 weeks in ICU. ICU bill was over 200k.

I'll help her out. I'm not it a place to give 100$ but I would do what I'm able to so she can go home to heal.

$$ comes and goes, but the simple fact that she is moving extremities and has sensation is a huge positive. after some PT/OT she'll be back on the big stone with the smile that is a mile wide. Happy as can be:) thats tacos.

Tacos' friend set up a facebook cause here:

http://apps.facebook.com/causes/306890

It has information how to donate via paypal.

But you don't have to do anything with facebook -- all you have to do is

Paypal to satoko_715@hotmail.com

Please help her get home to her family and get the rehab she needs.

I'm in for more than a "share" there's a long road ahead for her.

I don't use Paypal because of an identity theft problem. Can someone tell me where to wire money through a bank?

The sooner that she can get back to Japan the better as they have National Helath Insurance for their citizens which is very comprehensive.

hey there say, bump again for "tacos"...

say, as the maui_mark said... spinal injuries have many crucial things involved...

*rhyang... you were very blessed to get well... :)

i met a friend in calif, who was from mich, and he never got well from his spinal injury of a broken neck (it was from a car accident, as well)---but THIS was about 25 years ago that he had his:

so MUCH has been done, up to these days, and folks are actually getting more chances to over-come...

here's hoping and praying that "tacos" will get this chance...

Bump for Tacos. I climbed with her for a few weeks back in 2004-5?. Her and some boulderer dude (Brian) and myself almost got electrocuted on Cathedral. It was a blast Come on every one if we all chip in a little perhaps we can get her home.

The following email address can be used for paypal
satoko_715@hotmail.com

This is confirmed via a phone conversation with Tacos herself, who says thank you so much, it is so appreciated.

P.S., if you go to the FB cause page
http://apps.facebook.com/causes/306890/70446812?m=95ac708a
and scroll down the page or click on "Post to the Cause's Wall", there is a post from Cara yesterday with that email on it, so you can see it's not a scam by me.

I sure hope it's correct, my $ is sitting in paypal waiting for confirmation. Tacos is not able to use her computer, and her friend helped set up the paypal thing, so it doesn't really surprise me that it hasn't been confirmed yet - she probably needs her friend's help. My b/f and another of her CO climbing partners are going to visit her today.

I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to things like Paypal (nor am I on Facebook) so can someone confirm that this the procedure:

1. Go to Paypal.com

2. Click on "Send Money Online" (under "Send Money" in that upper menu bar).

3. Enter "satoko_715@hotmail.com" in the "To" field, and my email address & amount to donate in the other fields.

4. In the lower box click on "Personal" and click a button to indicate Gift, Other, etc. (I assume this doesn't really matter).

5. Click Continue.

After that (which I didn't get to yet until someone confirms this) I assume I'll enter a credit card # or other financial info (e.g. checking account)?

Thanks!

Yes Trad, it will walk you through the process. I'm not an expert either, but you just follow the directions.

Forgive me, I'm a little confused. The first post says this :

She is hospitalized in Casper with a broken neck (she does have movement in her extremities so no paralysis thank goodness). She should make a full recovery in time from what I've heard.

Later on, quoted from facebook there I read this :

At the moment she has little movement from the shoulders down. She has some feeling in her toes and fingers and her breathing has become easier over the last few days. She has also gotten help to sit in a chair for a few minutes per day.

At first I breathed a sigh of relief -- no spinal cord injury, "just" a broken neck. Later, I became worried.. did things deteriorate after surgery ?

I've been recovering from a somewhat similar incident myself (Aug. 2007, partial paralysis, incomplete tetraplegia), so some of this is familiar ..

I received your email Anna, and understand. I hope this info is helpful to Tacos -

My left arm and leg were initially paralyzed. Just after the first surgery, someone asked me to wiggle the toes on my left foot -- I couldn't. Then they asked me to wiggle the toes on both feet, and someone saw a flicker of movement on my left foot.

Supposedly a flicker of movement just after the accident is a hopeful sign, and chances for recovery are much higher than if there is no movement at all. It will be a long road and a *lot* of work though.

I cried a lot in rehab, and thought I might never climb again, let alone walk. The physical therapists were very upbeat though. There were other folks who were kind of emotionally preparing me for life in a wheelchair, sort of just in case.

But as time went by, the swelling near the injury site went down and strength started to return. There is a bunch of other medical jargon for what else happened, but the upshot is that substantial recovery from something like this is the *norm*, not the exception.

To see me now, most people would never guess there is anything wrong. I do have some lingering neurological problems, but I mostly just work around them.

Getting into rehab as quickly as possible is definitely important. I will chip in what I can.

wow this is really special news that you all will go see her...

i sent an email to a friend of mine from japan, so she might be able to send her a note in japanese... that might be nice... but i am not sure if she got her email yet... so i dont know....

sure hope she gets the dream catcher and that they allow to give it to her... i know they allow cards, right?
it is not very big so it shouldnt be in the way---it is just to help think of dreams and hopes for good things...

Hey everyone, thanks so much for the donations! Tacos and her friend who set up the paypal account are going to work on "accepting" the payments so they don't say "unclaimed" any more. She hasn't even seen your generosity yet.

She had 4 visitors yesterday, which was great. She's really positive and is fighting hard to get better, but it's going to be a long road - her injuries are serious.

I also now have an account number at her bank, so anyone who was hesitating because of issues with Paypal, please contact me directly via the email function here, and I'll get you that information.

If you can use paypal, her email again is satoko_715@hotmail.com

Here's Tacos on top of Washerwoman last month, picture credit to my b/f (her climbing partner).
