John M., That's funny!
I took a small stack of wood in my truck for the camp, approx. 25 pieces. We burned 22 of them the first night and got progressively closer to the fire!!
We forced ourselves to ge a reasonable start in the morning, but as been said elsewhere, some of the approaches there can make you earn your stripes! So we get up to the wall we had chosen at random, and I was trying to figure out how light we could go with a small pack. Buggs did NOT want to climb with a pack, plus it was sooo nice in the sun.....
I tied a windbreaker around my waste and put a hat and two pairs of gloves in a small sack, clipped to the back of my harness. So the climb went well, but at 600 ft, when the sun disappeared on the western side of the range, it was soon time to make a decision. We had quite a ways to go to top out (Numerous pitches) and had no knowledge of the descent. Hmmmm, easy decision!! We had passed not one piece of gear so we knew that we would be trying to use natural features so as not to leave gear. Ended up leaving one sling and one biner, not bad.
But, we made it back to camp before dark, in January, so we were happy. (Unlike Nutjob and his sweetie! Ha! I'm still proud of him.)
I would have been in trouble for not selecting the warm button in the virtual room, but Buggs was happy that it wasn't well below zero like it was in Alaska, so he didn't fuss much.
We made it through the second night too!

I had the opportunity to chat with Buggs at the 2008 Facelift, and
it was one of the highpoints of my experience there--another great
one was meeting Nita, she really is an exceptional person!!!!
Though I've not met Bruce, one of these days I hope to share a rope
with both of them!
Yay for the Banditos!!!!

Somehow missed this one the first time around.
Sorry to hear you got too chilled to climb, cuz there's some amazing climbing to be done in the Organs. Although, as you say, the approaches aren't exactly cake. Which is probably a good thing, or it'd be crowded.
If you go back there, get on Tooth or Consequences. Six or seven pitches, mid-10, really fun climbing, on The Tooth.
