In Joshua Tree today doing a solo tour, rattler scared the sh@# out of me when he went off next to the rock I was traversing, on the way to Lost Horse Wall.

I had two thoughts: I'm a Pu%$y as I let out a yell,(see post above) LOL and nice schnake. He disappeared quite rapidly making a coiling motion of retreat, but never taking his eyes off of me.

My heart was racing, so I sat down and mellowed out before the climb.

"If those were taken around Landers, some were Mojaves mixed in with hybrids and others. If you come across Mojaves, kill them. They're too damn dangerous to play PETA BS with."

Redneck bullshit from woody. They are a part of nature. Stay home if you're scared of the crawlies.

No, no! I'm now an Obama man and I'm going to learn to love the little "Narrow Fellows". Blessed are the slithering, toxic and squirmy creatures of the world. I'll be working on loving Black Widows and scorpions next.

Damn, thats what I call real change Woodrow! Better to just whack em with a shovel and let the Kingsnakes, Bull Snakes and Rat snakes handle the rodent work.

Yeah, it takes a real "he-man" to blast critters that scare him.

Now Dirtbag, Theres' nothing like taking a 12 G and blowing pieces of rattler all over the terrain. But now that I'm a Holy Man, I must allow them to remain whole.

Yikes, double yikes and triple yikes.

I think perhaps wall climbing on Baffin Island may be a safe bet for snake-free climbing.

That place on Mountain Project, Catalina Mountains and Mt Lennon looks like there is some good cragging. What sort of rock is it, besides the kind that attracts rattlers?
Ouch!

Ouch, it's obviously going to be very difficult to convince the Obama people of my conversion; I'll pray on it.

The pic of the snakes in the Drainage covert were in TX and were Western Diamond Backs. The snakes coming out of the Winter den site were Prarie Rattlers from a location near Wyoming.

Mojave greens do not den up like that. They prefer to over winter in rodent burrows alone under creosote plants.

Just to qualm any concerns of being cornered by a large group of mojaves

There is more info on my website for those who are curious

Nice...... Y'know, I don't mind snakes at all. They mostly leave you be if you let them be.

One of a pair of cuties on Memorial Day weekend beside the trail to The Bend, a crag in the Tieton Canyon near Yakima, WA. One of them made a beeline for my pack after I put it down to take pictures. They hung out in the same area for a couple days.
