My parents didn't get the memo about being lenient. But you are correct. I got laid even though I was a nerd boy brainiac. So maybe the 70s weren't so bad after all. haha..
But I still hate sleisure suits...

I was too big in the mid seventies for my folks to intimidate or beat me so maybe that's where my perception of leniency came into play....Let's Knott talk about the 60's.....

Wearing flared Levi cords, a two-inch wide belt, six-pound Vasque SuperHikers, and a flannel shirt...
to school. (SDSU, '69 to '74)
But Hamm's was 89 cents a six-pack at Hub's Liquor in Mission Beach, tuition was less than $100/semester, my share of the rent was $70/month (fold-out couch at 805 Vanitie Court) and my brand spanking new Datsun pick-up cost me two grand on the nose. So, I was living at the beach, driving a new car, and paying every cent of my college and living costs...all on the money earned flipping burgers at a San Diego Zoo concession stand full time in summer and on holidays, and weekends only the rest of the year. That just ain't possible now days. Too bad.

It's always good to see your ideas--I think you and
I might be the only people that use 'cute as a button'!
Awesome saying. I've said it about many, many beautiful
women. All deservedly so.
Edit
Did you catch that drift, L? Or do I have to spell it out for
you--you're CUTE AS A BUTTON. . . actually DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!!!
DID I MAKE YOU BLUSH???????

The Munther Hitch was damn cool when I switched to it after realising there was no future in catching falls with the hip-belay.
Especially cool with the ass-wards locking Pearibiner.

Only 200cm? Pfff. Those are short.
Try 215s that are not as wide as the boots. 3-pin bindings.
And alplaca wool tooques.
And ensolite pads.
And gaiters with army surplus wool pants.
You can't see it but there's a Chouinard North Wall Hammer - 1st generation fiberglass shaft. I was so proud of that tool. Pfff.
Still cool? The Lowe pack, the telescoping ski poles, Dachstein mittens and the Patagucci capelene zip-t. Still got em and use em all 25 years later.

I'm right there with you about the mitts and patagucci wear.
I still have my original Dachsteins, a bit worse for the wear,
holes in the thumbs, and still have all of my 30 year old
capilene. It's great!

SteveW,
Yes...hot pink.:-)
Speaking of which...used to love this pair of hot pink, florescent blue and glaring purple "Kool Kat" beach pants. They were kind of like sweats, only made out of twill. LA circa 1990.
Found them tucked away in a box last weekend. After I recovered from the shock of all those colors attempting to make me hurl...I tried them on.
If dumb stuff ever comes back in style, I'm ready.
