Paul,

Spring in Anchorage is ripe with the perfume of defrosting dog doo. If you ain't smellin' it yet, it ain't spring in Alaska yet.

Oh, I know all about that, this guy is very adept at converting kibbles to piles.

I knew better than thinking that a driveway free of snow and ice by the end of March was truly an early spring. As you always have to wait until the first week of May (occasionally the second week) for everything to green up, but you still get tricked every year.

Last weekend it was snowing below 1500 feet. The weekend before it was snowing at 700' elevation. I got back to my car to see a car parked next to mine chaining up.

Where I want to go there is currently 15-20 feet of snow and still snowing today and not wanting to let up at all. Was skiing on the Mt yesterday with my son, 15" of new powder on top of an existing 220 inches of base.

Oregon.

Beautiful pictures all!
It has been such a cold nasty spring even here in Virginia.
I can't wait to get to Albuquerque!

Speaking of spring, can someone crank up those waterfalls in Yosemite for the facelift? Sept. isn't the best waterfall time there and it'll be my wee ones first trip in there..damn.

Spring in northern New England is nothing to brag about, except it's not winter.
Just now, however, walking around the yard ... it did look almost springlike.

Went for a hike at lunch today, came across this willow blow down.

Which made for a fine moose buffet.

Well, we had a freak storm two weeks ago, and here's what it looked like:

Since then it's improved.

I like the contrast from these, the fluffy pink white cherries silhouetted against the dark conifers:

Now if I could only stop sneezing.

From the Springtown Preserve in Livermore, a unique ecosystem which is essentially a alkali sink where the water collects but has no way out... one of a very few in California.

this is a non-flowering Bird's Beak exuding salt, an adaptation to this particular location.

I dig all of those pretty Spring pictures--almost hate to spoil the fun with this greeting on 4/20.
