Love this. Thread about being single and most of the replies come from married people.
Slow ST day I guess!

And Tami: Reilly posts in every thread, no matter what it is about. It's the chronic poster syndrome (some call it sh#t posting I think?)
Lots of those here.

Tami, I know he is, but can’t a guy ask a question around here any more?
And why does the moralizing only run one way? This, like most threads here,
should be titled Being simple.

Anita, pretty dure Tami is capable of drawing her own conclusions.

I read that Paul Simon wrote "50 Ways to leave your lover" as a reflection on leaving his marriage to be with Carrie Fisher--I'd say he made the right choice...

Or maybe reading too much into what somebody else posts here and moralizing accordingly?

I thought that was basically what I said in my second post, when I apologized. LOL..

Just had me a nice nap. Its amazing what a little sleep can do for a person.

thanks Tami.. Reilly does't bother me. He doesn't pretend to be something he isn't. Like when Lois would say that she never insults anyone, and then she would insult liberals. Thats the kind of stuff that gets under my skin. Or people who claim Christianity, and then constantly behave poorly on the forum. And its not the occasional thing that bothers me. Everyone has a bad day here or there. Its when its fairly constant and they won't acknowledge it that it bugs me.

no.
single is temporary.

we are social creatures.

i understand that there are physiological temperments
that impede social unions.

i author one of those, myself.

in my opinion, a single male is an socially inept male.

companionship requires selflessness, compromise, communication,
and surrender. these are of the most difficult physical and emotional states.

under duress, many people fail.

because duress is uncomfortable.
and thus weaker folk flee towards comfort,
which is (temporarily) 'being single'

Maidy, we'll keep the term prowl for the my 50 somethingish gender counterpart THE COUGAR. My gait would probably get classified as a stuttering skip :)

A thread started from my mind about what a weird new feeling it is to have been putting a lot of energy into something that was fun ,.....but probably doomed from the start and then getting all that time open in your life. I liken my very past relationship to a 'second best poker hand' : there's a lot to like, and that's why you hold on to it too long. At least there was a lot to like.

On topic I DO feel free to get back to a more adventure based lifestyle. Be responsible (keep my business rolling which it is ), and save up that time off for adventure trips. Ideally, it would be nice to do them with a partner, but it's pretty obvious one really isn't necessary with the amazing people in my life. Forward we go

Well, I think we've all held on to those "poker hands". There is no fault in giving opportunities and people a chance. If your adventures take you west you are always welcome. :)

Conversely, my wife and I have single female friends in their 40's and 50's and unfortunately their prospects are dismal. To bolster this point, many of my long time male subcontractors that are in their 50's have absolutely let the wheels come off physically, emotionally and economically.

Geeeeeez!

I’m 45 years old, and don’t feel my options are dismal, at all. Entering my 40’s wasn’t dismal, and I sure as hell didn’t think, “Oh No!!! I’ll never find a man!” Quite the opposite.

I’m approached and appreciated by men of all ages. Not one to generally have “age difference” issues, I do insist younger men be at LEAST a year older then my 25 yr old son. :)

I’ve enjoyed being single, it’s been my choice, and one I’m happy with. My perspective is this: Live your best life, with or without a partner. Life YOUR best life.

I, er, I mean, we got married when I was 52. She's only a couple of years behind. It's perfect. I had the freedom of being single for all of those years. Today I have a wonderful companion in life. Best thing ever.

It's an old saw but worth remembering..

"Because it's worth it"
