I LOVE every one of my ex's which might be extraordinary, but......there's nothing like a wide open highway in front of you as an adventure junkie. Newly there and ready to roll. Hmmm....what shall I do ? The world as your oyster ......

To paraphrase Pee Wee Herman, I love all my ex's, but I would never marry them.

Tami ,

only my humble self. I've always thought when your single the only person you can disappoint is yourself, and when you do that one should know it :)

Single man is only half human.

Really????

As a female who has been out of any relationship for more years of my life than in one, I find that an unfortunate viewpoint.

There's nothing wrong with being a unit of one, for the duration. It's surely a better state of being part of an unhealthy couple, or one in a couple where the other won't keep faithful to the agreement between them and their partner.

And as for taking time between relationships....I would say that is KEY to being healthy in relationships going forward. If one doesn't spend time alone with themself, how do they even know who they really are?

Really????

There's no problem with either statement (yours or his). I don't know why you could label his "unfortunate".

Being in a relationship for many people is partly what defines them.

Hey....if there were no single men, then I would have no hope of becoming merely whole.

You know what's I would say is really "half a human?" Man OR woman, who is so uncomfortable being single that they stick in a relationship until they have established a replacement one, and only then have the courage to walk.

1 is not a prime number, but 2 and 3 are, and are much more useful.

Either way, follow your muse. If you decide to hook up again make sure she has green camalot hands...she can get the rope up for you.

it was the best of times, and it was the worst of times

I am really digging being single at 58.
There is quite an inventory of women in my age group out there.
Cheers

Conversely, my wife and I have single female friends in their 40's and 50's and unfortunately their prospects are dismal. To bolster this point, many of my long time male subcontractors that are in their 50's have absolutely let the wheels come off physically, emotionally and economically.

When I moved to West Virginia as a single guy in my 30s, I had 3 inviolate requirements for dating a woman:
1. She has to be smart
2. She can't be fat
3. She has to have all of her teeth

After a few years of meeting all the single women within 200 miles (all of whom were 400 pounds, had 5 children from 3 different fathers, and had teeth that looked like little bits of coal), I changed my requirements:
1. She doesn't have to smart, but she can't be dumb
2. She has to weigh less me
3. She has to have most, if not all, of her teeth

This proved to be a disaster, so I went back to my original requirements. It finally worked out. ;)

I once heard the phrase

1. Marry first for love.
2. Marry second for money.
3. Marry the third time for companionship.

Of course in the climbing community maybe the 2nd will never apply (unless you substitute “gear collection”. ;)

As for me, once was enough. We had a family and remain very close even with kids grown.

Cam hands,lol.

Contractor,sorry to hear that.

If you’re in good shape, have hair and you are not hung up on things, you’re prospects are better than one might think.

Not many climbing women over here, but, I am seeing a nurse practitioner who is a heck of a skier.

#3 ,Susan,for sure.

It helps to have a puppy, lol.
