This thread is sooooo supertopo.
OP asks dumb question.
Following posters give a wide range of advice. Some mediocre, some snide, some straight stoopid.
OP- If you wanted a bomber safe finish on a sheet of nice looking 3/4 plywood, you should have just picked up a piece of prefinished maple from your local sheet goods suppliers. 70$. You can’t beat the quality of the factory finish. Done.
Or you could spend a few hours of your life (what’s your time worth?) asking for advice from a bunch of barely literate degenerate rock climbers, then go spend another 20$ (In addition to the 50$ you already spent on unfinished maple ply) on finishing supplies, 4 hours doing multiple coats of finish in an awkward position in the back of your truck, while huffing the very VOCS that your are overly paranoid about.
Good lord, what a collection of anti geniuses.

Most of the girls I know like it good and slippery Warble.
Doing 2 pitch rock climbs next to the road in the sunshine is a lot easier than doing 2500 foot first ascents in Alaska in the winter... if you don’t mind skin cancer and crowds.

F, buy all prefinished material when you build your house and no painter will be needed.

Warbler-
There's always a sweet little lady waiting for me at home with a nice dinner ready to go. That's happens when you're not a dick, and have been gone a few days.
Clinker-
Still waiting for them to start making a prefinished 5/8 Sheetrock.
In the meantime, prefinished plywood is readily available.
Hooblie-
No, I haven't. And I don't see it happening anytime soon. Although I'm sure it's mind boggling.
There is plenty for me to do in this neck of the hills.

I'm with F on this one
Kinda metrosexual finishing the plywood deck in the back of your truck imho
but the whole #vanlife is the hipster rage these days.
To each his own I suppose, but personally, I don't give much street cred to dudes with finish quality shhets of plywood that they sleep on in the back of their truck

Stiffness of wrist and practical intelligence inversely proportional to topcoat quality on back of truck bed?
Someone should do a study.

70 posts about a 4x 6 sheet of plywood? Ho Lee Phuk
When you begin to learn about wood, the options for finishing are endless.
This is really it. If you think this is crazy jump on a woodworking forum or just google / youtube around. The amount of information out there on wood finishing is nuts. However, I was expecting 10 posts max haha.
That's why I posted on here...I've seen some of the really cool wood projects people have done, and figured a few people would know.
Some think I'm over thinking it, but this isn't work too me, I enjoy this stuff. Especially when I have a week off of work for the holidays.
Warbler I'm leaning towards tung oil. How long do you suggest waiting in between coats? Some people say 30 minutes to a hour, and others say a week.

Thanks!!!
If I was going for 3 coats, for the first 2 coats would you go 50/50 for each and then pure on the 3rd (last)? Or 50/50 on the first then 70/30 on the second, then pure on the last?
