Hi Justin,
Not sure if Kahola'll be able to make it due to scheduling of working in the Valley... That being said, I do wanna go... but not sure if my car will be able to make it (even though it is said that a regular passengers car won't have a problem for the most part... my car is after all 6 inches off the ground... XD It's Scion xB) 'd be cool to check out the area and get some climbing done!! I need some slabs :]
Thanks phylp for posting the inform regarding the 2WD directions to the camp.

Hi, I would be interested in attempting this (For 2 people)... I had a blast at Indian Creek. I don't have a high clearance vehicle (my car bottoms out coming out of a Safeway parking lot)... can I be a "maybe" while I look into a ride situation?
Thanks!

There is one little ten foot section maybe a quarter mile from the Big Sleep camping area. It isn't bad at all, just go slow through it. I will do some work on that section to make it even better.
Camping area is around 7200' so should escape some of the heat. Wind always picks up at 11:00am.
Gerry, I still owe you a beer, so be good to catch up.

Mention who the guidebook author is and I might just buy one for myself!
I've never been to Shuteye. Mebbe I'll make it. Have to check my schedule.

And for anyone worried about access, my cousin's Mazda Protege hatchback made it there with nothing more than a careful hand behind the wheel.

Charlie D, your email server won't accept a reply, just get a bounce-back message. Your vehicle will have no problems making it.

Bring cash for the raffle and t-shirts. I'll update raffle items as I get them, but looks like we will have some good items from generous people. All the proceeds will go to the ASCA.

I'm a maybe. Haven't been climbing so much and that area is like heaven-on-earth. I gotta check in with the other half to confirm, see if she wants to go, bring the boy, or what.
I'll confirm soon...

So how hot does it get in mid-July up there, rather like Lover's Leap? Can one find shade readily? I'm in recovery mode from an intercostal tear, but I might be into doing some easy stuff. I've been dying to get up there.

Right on Charlie D, have always enjoyed your contributions here and look forward to meeting you.
As far as the temperature, it might get into the low 90's. Getting the approaches done early is the big thing. Most of the area's crags are between 7200-8000' and the wind is always enjoyable during the summer.
The actual camping area is exposed and not a lot of shade, but no reason to hang there during the day.

My new friend Phyl has convinced me that this is an event not to be missed. I'm hoping to round up a partner from around here to drive up with me. For now, put me down as a big ol' maybe.

My new friend Dr. Chong has convinced me that I can't climb for the next 6 weeks due to ongoing elbow inflammation. Which means I show up at this gathering - conveniently 6 weeks away - ready to climb SLAB! since I won't be able to do a pull-up to save my life.
But he did give me one exemption for the 2 days I have planned for Red Rocks in 2 weeks.
Hope you got some good news from your MRI Justin.
