Well I guess I committed to this so here it goes. Hope to have a raffle, t-shirts, people show up, etc.
Gunna be at the Big Sleep area, because it's the most road and camp friendly area.
Big Sleep is perfect for long easy routes, Crocodile is one of the best cragging spots on the ridge, Eagle Beaks is near, world class bouldering is within a thirty minute hike. Something for everyone.
Definitely want to do a potluck/BBQ on Saturday night. Will have horse shoes set up.
Can somebody direct me who to contact for ASCA?
Hope to see many of you there.
Regards,
Justin Ross

It's in my calendar, Justin. Now I just need to make sure my wife hadn't already made other plans. Thanks for putting this together. It sounds like a lot of fun.

I would like to come out for that. No guarantees, my schedule/life kinda up in the air at the moment, but I am tentatively adding it to the schedule.

Hi Justin, I can't get to COR this year so I definitely wAnt to make this gathering.
Could you post a diagram of the areas you are talking about with their relation to the nearest town?
How far from the nearest CA route is the camping area? What are the roads like to get in there? Passenger car? All wheel drive? High clearance?
I'm sure I could find all this out on Mtn Project but it would be good to have all the info in one place.

Phylp...I was at the exact area a few months ago. Easy access with low clearance passenger car if you take it slow for the last couple of hundred yards. Under an hour from Oakhurst. Super primitive camping in the open with your car parked on absolutely flat granite slabs.

Phyl! Woohoo, now it's official. If you are coming from LA, you will take highway 41 north towards Yosemite. Fresno would be a good place to get ice, meat, or any perishables. About 30 minutes north a Fresno, you'll see a sign for O'Neils and North Fork, also a scenic byway sign and the first traffic light for awhile. Take a right and this road will take you to North Fork.
We do have a gas station and a grocery store, but don't recommend the store for food or supplies other than beer. There are two routes from here.
Hopefully the guidebook author won't copyright my ass for this.
I believe Jim did the second pic, Cascadel directions.
The cool thing about the first way is there is a spring at the bottom of the dirt road to fill up water. Also this route is easier on vehicles, but both are mellow.
It's in a National Forest so camping is free and is not a campground setting. Hopefully they will still allow campfires, but this winter has been dismal, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have fire restrictions already.
Phyl or anyone my number is five five 9 2 eight seven five 8 one 3 and email is jross1838 at g mail.

Jim really hope you can make it, would like to see you and Mark beforehand too.
Micro, a pen is better than pencil.
Greg and I have been in contact and there will be a raffle to benefit the ASCA. Some items so far include a rope that I'll provide, a custom knife I'll make, and Barry's Resoles will donate a free resole. Greg said he'd see what he could do as well. Any donations are welcome.

Awesome! Hope I can make it. We'll see when it gets closer.
It's embarassing that I live in Visalia and still haven't climbed at Shuteye, that needs some fixin'

Justin - don't be dissing the gals at the Shell Station - if they get to know you and it's not too busy and you tip well - they can cook up fresh fried chicken and broasted potatoes that are damn tasty.
Especially if you wash them down with a sixer of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
