Speaking of the ice climb Jeff and Alex Lowe backed off it 3 or 4 days before Kevin and Tim climbed it. They said it was too thin. Local boys do good.

Great song! The definitive Vietnam War era song (along with "Run Through the Jungle"). Enjoyed Ed's list of covers.

Meredith Hunter was killed during "Under My Thumb".
Still glad I stayed away and studied that weekend.
Great song, inspired Bob Dylan to write this one according to Townes van Zandt.
Bob studied all his stolen LP's to learn "slide" for it. Anyone recognize him? It was sorta pre-1976 approximately.

My dad was Julian, and yes there are numerous CDs out there. I have 8 or 9.
I never had the patience and devotion to truly appreciate classical music, but then when I was getting into rock music his recording career waned and he grew to resent more modern music. He could fill Carnegie Hall with music with just the sound of his violin and felt that using amplifiers was "cheating".
Long after he died his Stradivarius was put on display in the Metropolitan Museum where my trilingual mother was employed as a guide. It was called The Emperor because 200 years ago somebody named Bonaparte owned it. The "Hundred Greatest Violins" show was one of the museums biggest draws. There were lines 4 blocks long waiting to get in.
Anyway they had my mom stand by it. At one point she sighed and confided in a coworker, "For 15 years I told him not to leave that thing lying on the bed."
These days I am more into the music of his grandson, Jaron (named for me and him).

His(Julian's) music is even on Apple 's music service, quite the collection, have to check it out some time.
Thanks for the reminder(and vid of Merry, Ed). Great way to get a new perspective on an old favorite.
