Funny, the same people who believe there should be no gun control laws are the same ones that want to bomb Iran based on the maybe possibility that they are working on nuclear weapons

Where to draw the line. Semi-auto OK? Full Auto Ok? How about Poison tipped shells? Rocket launchers a no no for sure right? or anything goes?

Peace

Jody.. you don't know what my "side" is.. so stop trying to pigeon-hole me. You don't like it when people make blanket statements about Christian or cops.. so why don't you stop with the blanket statements?

I don't believe that more gun control would help this problem.

well said

I have run across a few Sikhs working at COLORADO convenience stores, poor service

seriously, I wanted to kill them, and i'm no racist either

So bad service from a Sikh makes you want to kill them? Is bad service ok if they are white? Is bad service at a gas station solely a "Sikh problem"?

BTW: Reports are the gunman was a "White Supremacist" So he probably didn't care if they were Sikh or Muslim.

They're probably all "ragheads" to him.

I've always wondered how one measures the overal depravity of world societies. I am of the opinion that most societies are much less depraved than they were just a few generations ago.

For example the USA has stopped shipping kidnapped humans in beyond inhuman conditions and selling the ones that managed to survive.. child labor is rare here. lots of other examples.

I am demonstrating the absurdity of whiners like apogee who contribute NOTHING in the solutions department.

Seems a bit reactionary to me. Seems like recognizing that one doesn't have a solution is better then proposing something as absurd as repealing all gun control laws.

I'm getting a minigun and mounting it on a golf cart for my uncle. That way he can blast his way around the golf course when slower players get into his way. It is one of his biggest pet peaves. He is 84 and going senile, so I am glad that those gun control laws will be repealed. My aunt, who is 86 has alzhiemers and keeps asking for a gun too. What kind should I get her? I'm thinking a glock 19. Though she is really strong and I believe that she could handle something with a bit more punch. Got any suggests?

Why a Sikh temple?

It's a gun-free zone.

Nobody ever shoots up a police station or a Guard armory.

Nobody ever shoots up a police station or a Guard armory.

well.. not an armory but someone did shoot up a military base a few years ago.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33678801/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/t/gunman-kills-wounds-fort-hood/

he killed 12 and wounded 31. On a military base with all those guns around and all of those trained people.

"My whole point is that the anti-gun whiners have yet to even suggest what they would do to prevent these tragedies."

Jody, you apparently don't comprehend much more than will fit through your narrow view of the world.

Many suggestions are floated around attempting to reduce future episodes of random, senseless violence. Improving mental health resources...sensible, reasonable structure around how/which types of guns can be obtained....

Problem is, you gun-nutz don't want to hear it, and won't even consider anything except your own uncompromising view.

'Dark days are coming'? You're goddam right they're coming...and you whacknuts are not only indifferent to it, but you expect it, and will incite it.

Edit: "Nobody ever shoots up a police station or a Guard armory."

And nobody buys pot in a convent. What's your point?

Unfortunately, these events will become more and more common as the days grow darker!

Mass murder when defined as four or more people killed as part of the same incident within a 24 hour period: In the USA from 1900-1965 there were 21 mass public killings and from 1966-2009 there were 120!

Nice!

I'm gonna go post my thoughts on the subject of these gun control threads on facebook, feel free to ctrl-C/ctrl-V the status. I'll borrow that .jpg if ya don't mind!

6 Sikhs killed in shooting in bumf*#k Wisconsin, idiot zealous racist confused with muslim mosque??? Most probably, according to tattoos, which are truth-devices. Nation will sh#t itself over taking away all the guns/making guns available to children, until everyone crawls back to their cave. Collectively of course we'll learn nothing but its a good excuse to start a conversation every once in a while.

Worst part is, the reality of the deaths of 7 people and the sick situation that started the event will invariably get washed away. There in is the true crime, that two sides of equally impassioned coins are so willing to slice the baby in half.

No but seriously, we need less guns. Like, everyone should. That shit's dangerous.

The ratios of: 1)bad-ass bully boxers to angsty kids on adderol, and 2)ability of the average American to whip someone's ass in the 1940's and today, and finally 3)the piece of sh#t great war relics people dug out of their closets that passed as 'firearms' ain't got sh#t on the Amazon market of high caliber rifles.

Times were tough as sh#t. Now people have less to worry about; life expectancy goes up, mediocraty sets in and the mice stop looking through the maze for cheese and stare blindly at the wall. The hungry ones eat each other.

K now just multiply that.

300 million or so guns already in private ownership.

they become super cool things your dad keeps in his closets and pulls out to show the grandkids, and every once in a while a cop might bust you (depending on the county, he might just chuckle and let you go).

judging from.... every other thing that is illegal that people like.

Don't you just hate it when something that you love that hurts almost no one is illegal?

F*#k, Jody....why should I recount the entire fecking history of gun-violence threads, and all of the options that have been offered by those who would like to try and do something? It's been there for years...you guys just can't comprehend it.

This comes up every goddam time there's a shooting, and the same closed-minded, uncompromising, bunkered mentality comes forward from you guys....

Second Amendment!
Freedom ain't free!
It's the person, not the gun!
Mental health resources? That's fine, but I ain't payin' for it!

ANYTHING that is put forward to you gets shot down with no consideration whatsoever. Our politicians...every one of them...doesn't have any sac whatsoever to even try...

I have no illusions that anything will change following this latest incident...we'll probably have another one next week as we continue our 'march towards the dark days'...

What pisses me off is the indifference and unwillingness you guys regularly demonstrate to consider doing ANYTHING of ANY KIND, WHATSOEVER. (Except buy more ammo.)

Edit: For the record: I am not in the camp of doe-eyed, daisy-plucking granola-eaters who think removal of all guns will solve the problem. I think the right to own reasonable arms should be protected, and have no problem having one in one's home.

GDavis,

Dood, I just posted the facts. I didn't take a stand one way or another. Simple facts show that it is increasing. The causes are prollie multiple.

The study I was referring to states:

"Meantime, the rate of gun ownership has remained steady and does not appear to have a huge impact either way."

They had access to Tommy guns/choppers, BRL's, sniper rifles, etc., back then. The size of the US has prollie doubled or tripled since 1900 also, I would have to check to see the exact increase. There are many factors.

edit: as far as mass murders have been going on since the beginning of time. That is true, but, i would imagine that was in relation to armies or dictators, etc.! And we are discussing those that have occurred in America. I don't recall reading or hearing about any occurring during the 1800's, particularly in public schools, etc.! That seems to be something that was initiated in the 60's! And just about everyone or at least every household had at least one firearm during then 1800'sand into the early 1900's.

I personally do feel as though we need take another look at the current relatively easy access to firearms & ammo here in the US. But there are other issues that are in need of perusal! But there are allot of sick, twisted individuals out there that are going to accomplish their wicked deeds one way or another. It would be nice if we found a solution to curtail it. But, as Dean was suggesting, I to feel there is a moral/spiritual vacuum, and it will most likely get worse before it gets better "unfortunately"! People do not seem to want to consider this. It is at least worth reflecting on. It has been in a steady decline since the 60's. Look at the increase in violent crime, particularly among our youth. The proliferation of gangs, drugs, prostitution, pornography and crime in general. Something is apparently missing, and the void is being filled with vice, which is largely unfulfilling and temporal at best.

Carl, yes, obviously society has improved in some aspects, but, peoples hearts haven't changed with the laws that have gone into effect, eg. racism, misogyny, greed, etc.! It is a vacuum which is located in the heart and conscience of our country, imo! It comes, in part, with the glorification of fame, fortune, power, wealth!
