I have shot guns, plenty of em. Actually have an uncanny ability to shoot. But I don't own any, and I wish the world would melt all the guns ever made into a giant memorial.

We need to evolve beyond violence. There is no justification for gun violence.

Regardless the cat has been out of the bag for centuries.

There are a lot worse tragedies going on every day in this country.

We lose a lot more people due to lack of access to medicine than all the shooters in the history of this nation. Including it's wars.

Ho man, I didn't realize Denver law was so restrictive.

Kind of silly to set the bar at 20.
Lets see, I have 20 (or less rds) clips for;
a 5.7mm
AR
Mini-14
HK91
M14
HK94

but a shotgun can't even have a folding stock or even a 6+ rds magazine??

WTF?

Anyway, if the woman who laid on the floor as hot brass fell on her had pulled a legal piece then she might actually have had a clear shot.
But the less well armed the populace the more the casualties and more the furor.

Same guy tries to rob a liquor store with the same guns, gets legally dropped then maybe it is on page 8 of the local rag.

Most people who get concealed
permits probably would have made the situation worse.

Exactly, most(not all) people who have guns think they're Dirty Harry

Guns are the worst invention the world has ever seen. So many lives lost, so much pain caused.

true

and that is the exact reason why I carry concealed (with the license) almost everywhere I go

I carry a small lightweight 9mm in an ankle holster, completely forget it is there

I carry it because my wife asks me to

she wants us to have the ability to save ourselves or innocent people around us

go ahead and hate me for carrying a gun, if I never fire in my life that's good by me

edit: and I ain't no "Dirty Harry

Dirty Harry?

The reality is anyone I hung out with and shot with would have nothing to do with a Dirty Harry type personality.

I've met a few people who I will never allow to have a firearm near me because they were idiots but.. those folks are rare.

Seems like there's been an inordinate # of similar shootings in CO...is that just me, or wtf?

You are on to something here. Can anyone remember "Columbine"? These are some really extreme incidents that don't do much for Colorado's image. Is it the altitude?

Seems really easy to say you (me, you or anyone) would have shot the f*#ker, but I did hear one guy who was there say it started in a big shoot out scene and the theater filled with smoke really fast, nobody realized what was going on at first because of the movie scene...plus the smoke... I'm sure all those there (sounds like there were a few) with weapons would have tried if they could.

Dirty Harry?

I guess I haven't been doing it right, but then I've never been *trained* ( just "drilled" ).

I spent 19 years tending bar in some less-than-genteel joints ( armed more often than not ), and my armed encounters generally involved me running away, hiding, or both.

I've never met Dean and I'm fairly positive he is a good person and he is just the target of my misguided ranting today. I'm just so fed up with the american gun attitude, like once we all have a gun then we won't have violence anymore.

Guns kill so easily. It takes so much work, love and care to raise a human and then bam. dead because 1 finger moved. It makes me sick, and obviously very angry.

My apologies Cragman. Don't shoot me.

Private ownership of automatic weapons should be removed period. The key to protecting our democracy is not in having heavily armed citizens, but informed ones. However, the argument that freedom isn't free is reasonable. I still believe that privately held auto's would not be a match to our military's advanced weapons.

Karo, I'm on board with your frustrated sentiments 100%.

Gun-nutz love to justify their nuttery waving the constitution around, saying that if more people had guns there'd be fewer shootings, making stooopid simplified statements like 'freedom isn't free', etc....and the fact is that this country has the highest number of guns per person, and the greatest number of gun-related violence. That's simple, objective fact.

And the gun-related violence continues. And each time, the same tired pro-gun arguments are trotted out. Not a goddam step towards regulation of guns has occurred in the last 10 years, and the violence continues & grows.

"Regardless the cat has been out of the bag for centuries."

Sadly, that's the bottom line. Can't put that cat back in the bag (unless we shoot it first). Gun-nutz would say the way to a 'safer' society is more guns....facts & history suggest otherwise. What to do?

had it not been for the Amrican gun toaters, youd likely be working in a japanese factory right now making less than min wage for slave labor..

Ron is correct

there is NO difference between our well armed troops in WW2

and private citizens owning guns back here in USA

see?
