If I can add a thought re the podcast, usually when I do these things there are a lot of questions directly from the audience, so those might fill the time slot.

^^^absolutely...cutting off the in-house crowd (e.g., giving them 12 of the usual 15 minutes) and taking a question or two from folks online means thinking differently about who your audience is.
But, now I'm just being argumentative, because I'm jealous I won't be there.

As usual, BASE 104, your observation about the political scrutiny of climate science shows insight that we need to address more explicitly. I wish people generally had a better understanding of the roles of science, economics and politics -- and how they interact. Too many are trying to interpret the data to promote their desired political or economic outcomes. The absurdity is apparent. Why should I try to get scientific information from a political commentator, or economic information from a scientist, or political information from an economist?
And Cowpoke I am, sad to say, in your position -- unable to participate in real time.

Fantastic to hear that there is advanced education in the Principality of Co!
I also read UC Davis, but it caught my eye!

I think they are leaning to there not being enough time as you note Chiloe.
I wish all of you could be here. One thing that seems clear (correct me if I'm off Chiloe) is that Chiloe has always been willing to answer questions about this topic and his research here on the taco. So, perhaps after the presentation, this thread can continue with Q&A's on the topic.

Sure, I'm happy to chat about my work or the many many things it's connected to.
At talks like this one, the Q&A often is a good part of the fun.

At the risk of spoiling the party (or else making it more fun for the rest of ye), I probably won't attend a Monday-eve happy hour. My Dad and sister are showing up, so I'm off to party with them after our riotous Q&A session finally winds down.

Among folks who think it's interesting to watch ice melt, there has been idle speculation on whether this year would see a new record for lowest maximum area of northern sea ice. Personally I doubt it, but for the moment 2012 is hanging right in there just a shade below 2011, which set the previous record.

Glad your dad and sister will make it. :) We can do a HH on the weekend at the usual haunt...people interested? Eeyonkee? SteveW? If so, I'll get it up on its own thread.

Uh, about the same as I would if you jaywalked in the dark without looking,
got run over, and then proclaimed that it was the driver's fault.

I've no idea on the rsvp stuff - just make sure you do if you will attend. The podcast info is posted above. I'm in another airport right now so won't be able to check in on this. Looking forward to the event. Hope you can make it too Blahblah.

Just wrote this rig today, changing the title. I've given a lot of talks before but this is not like any of them, I think it will keep folks awake.

1380 Lawrence Street, suite 500 (my office is 525R, but I'll be in 500 prior to the event)
Denver, CO 80204.
People chain bikes to the parking meters - I don't think you'll have a problem. If you do, bring it up and I'll lock it in my office.
BN climbed with Chiloe all day and the three of us just returned from dinner with Tarbuster and Lisa. Fun time.
Hope everyone can make it. Sounds like it'll be an interesting talk!
