Hannity's 'style' is to cut people off, talk over people, and generally get in people's face. Maddow doesn't work that way- she's more calculated and cerebral (I know you Repugs hate that).

That's because she doesn't have as many opposing viewpoints on her show. No intelligent ones anyway.

I don't know if they're not invited or just refuse to show. I dunno. I've never seen her debate an intelligent conservative on the air.

(yeah, I know, there are none, huh-huh...)

Hannity always has Beckel on. And other libs of prominence.

her thoughts or wanted policies make me cringe and wonder.

I'm a simple man and like to think about stuff before I reach a conclusion

Sorry for voicing a simple non-violent opinion. Thought this was a good avenue for thought.

Let's be clear here.

A "Rhodes Scholar" is something that is just "granted", like a Nobel, and is not "earned"

and is certainly not indicative of how smart someone is.

They hand them out like popcorn. I learned that back when I was thinking about going to college.

So, don't be fooled into believing that the lesbian Maddow is super intellectual or anything like that. I dunno.

32 Rhodes scholarships are awarded each year to US college students who are finishing a degree, to go to Oxford University. It is one of the most prestigious international scholarships, and very difficult to win. If Ms. Maddow earned a Rhodes scholarship, it is certain that she got very good marks as an undergraduate, was athletic/outdoorsy, was involved in public affairs, and perhaps was also artsy. They sure as hell don't "hand them out like popcorn". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhodes_Scholarship

Obama won the Nobel prize for being the first (more or less) black man elected as president of the US, and for not being George Bush. It seems possible that he'll eventually earn it - half a dozen other US presidents have won the thing, after all.

I suspect Maddow had to do a lot more to win a Rhodes scholarship.

Maybe she's just being choosy, then...you know, the way Roger Ailes is 'choosy' about who he hires for FauxNews?

MIghty Hiker, ssshhhh......I was being sarcastic with Bluey

I am well aware that Rhodes Scholarships are not handed out like popcorn.

Clearly unlike Mr. Bluering, I have a great deal of respect for the intellect demonstrated to be one of a handful of people in the USA to "earn" that Rhodes distinction.

If I have a heart attack, I won't be calling Larry the Cable Guy.
I have no problem celebrating education and intellect. I would call the Harvard Cardiologist.

Then why does she come off as snarky, disingenuous, and exaggerating as a reporter?

You idiots make it sound like she is a bastion of truth and integrity. She is not! She intentionally distorts certain stories like a bad tabloid reporter. WTF?

Sure she sprinkles truth with distortions, but don't make her sound like some elevated persona like Anthony Weiner or Billy Jeff Clinton. They were so smart. They're to be admired, like her.

Again with the dipshittery!!!! I never said all higher education is bad.

At the risk of thread drift...

So you take umbrage at the fact that Maddow is very selective about her guests....

You know that Hannity has been invited to appear on Jon Stewart repeatedly, and he has consistently declined...

Does that mean he doesn't have the cajones? Or he won't stoop that low?

Maybe one could say the same thing about Maddow? (Except that she really doesn't have the cajones...)

Anthony Weiner or Billy Jeff Clinton. They were so smart.

Yes, both super smart. Neither could control themselves sexually.

The lesson is not that the people we elect happen to be world-class shits, nor that we should ignore sexual excesses in elected officials, but that we shouldn't trust much power in any person whatever, because we're all confused and only partially controlled jumbles of drives. The shocking thing is that civilization is possible at all.

Again, Blue Ring is right.

Billy Clinton and Anthony Weiner are the REAL smart ones to be "admired".

No way Rachel Maddow is as smart as they are.

I think I see your point, murcy.

No wonder republicans have no respect for those who have earned them....

How do you judge or predict that? That seems ridiculous. A college grad changes when confronted with life. I still call bullsh#t.

Was Bill Gates or Jobs a Rhodes Scholar? It seems to go to posers.

Oh man, I am sooo ashamed now. Kevin did a copy/paste job that proves I should take EVERY Rhodes Scholar at their word because they're so smart.

You're right. Maddow is a genius and all of our founding fathers were dipshits because they prolly wouldn't qualify for the prestigious distintion.

Sorry. I'm an idiot....
