These are for stripping fly line so your fingers stay fresh for climbing (I imagine). More Lycra magic. The fingle fishly flinger of fateful fingers likes.
And I have never seen these, could have used some.

Nope, nada once. But I did see a lot of lycra being worn at the crags around that time though. For example, at the '86 Mt Woodson bouldering contest which RK won. Ron wasn't wearing lycra though. And I believe it was just about the time that he issued the statement "Real men don't wear lycra. John Wayne didn't wear lycra!" (or something to that effect).
The closest I came to wearing lycra was with wearing lycra 'rash guards' under my wetsuit surfing (still do). And I also had a pair of black lycra cycling shorts that had a padded crotch/butt that I sometimes used while riding my street/road bicycle, but usually under a pair of regular shorts.
edit: not that there was/is anything wrong with that (wearing lycra tights)! lol

BUT, like I have already said, if ya wanna...

Hey, no worries (glad that you have seen the light) just chalk it up as experience. And I CAN relate! Because, some chicks got me to do some crazy sh#t, bitd! But, this day and age ya gotta be 'as gentle as a dove, yet, as wise as a serpent'! Because they HAD to be thinkin' "If we can get him/them to do this, we can get them to do anything." ...eh?
And talk about being "pussies", imo, lycra tights were stage one. Then comes the puffed up hair, etc! Next thing would be them talking you
into taking the weekend off, from going climbing, to join them at some inner healing/relationship seminar (or whatever). And before you know
it, yer...PUSSY WHIPPED!

Ron, that reminds me of the time I ran into Jim Bridwell in the Owens River Gorge one time. He was perched on a rock, legs spread wide and wearing quite colorful tight lycra. As we were chatting, I remember quite clearly thinking "Man, that guy has some massive balls".
I'll leave unsaid whether I was thinking about his physical attributes or climbing exploits.
