The work that I do as a criminologist fails to suggest that gangs are black and Hispanic only.
Not sure where the idea that gang=black, or gang=color comes from. Given that, I don't see how someone who doesn't care for gangs implies that they don't care for non-whites. I don't like gang members and they come in all shapes, ages, and colors.

Back in the 70's they called us a gang and Bridwell was the gang leader.

Many years ago gang culture and hip hop culture blended. Now, gang culture is pretty much mainstream. If in doubt, take a look at professional sports, most notably the NBA, prime time TV, Rap music, and the movie industry. I heard a very intersting interview involving Jim Brown and another Arican American leader (who's name I forget) who argued convincingly we need to stop celebrating the gang culture embodied in current rap music.
