As a joke, while still believing she was a "real" person, I innocently and inadvertently suggested that LEB was [you can look the rest up if you want...]. I entertained the notion that perhaps he/she [this too...]. Boy, did I get an eyeful after that! It then became very obvious what was what.

Really clever trolls are not caught by what and how they write, but by their actions. In fact, they often will write in a way that is intentionally different, no? What do trolls do when the sleuths close in?

Old trolls never fade away, they just magically reinvent themselves.

I'm pretty sure that Jeff Batten is functionally retarded. How else could somebody be able to write the same trolls for years and years?

there is some kind of functional retarded-ness called Assburgers (sp?) that makes people almost normal, but totally oddball-social, obsessive with very specific things.

Batten is a freak about seismology and trolling. I've never met anybody who is such an obsessive personality... and that says something having climbed w/ a few of you.

Lois,

Just curious. How do you, a college professor from the east coast and non climber, know about Stoney Point?

Stoney Point is:

In the armpit of southern California, San Fernando Valley.
A mostly bouldering area of some historical significance.

I wonder if I am the only person here who has actually met Juan in person and had a conversation with him. I think I may be.

How curious.
There maybe something to LEB's fishing...

Come to think of it, a while back, I compared the departed drkodos with Juan.
I said that I much enjoyed engaging with kodos who usually had something intelligent to say, while Juan was stuck with his 5th grade vocabulary.
That prompted Juan to get defensive and to try baiting me with statements like "was that still 5th grade English?" etc.

Cheers,
d

Edit: what I truly want to know is why someone would spend SO much time online accomplishing absolutely nothing?

Perhaps, if you add 30 lbs and consider that I met him about 8 years ago. My memory is kind of vague.

"why someone would spend SO much time online accomplishing absolutely nothing?"

Because he's got horribly painful Assburgers.

I retract all of my earlier posts. Jaunito is still king. Prowsolo/Juan/Tommy/The General/LEB is reeling them in, and he hasn't even baited the hook in this thread.

Which leaves one question remaining. Rockstar, are you LEB? I wasn't sure until I read this:
I was mistaken. I thought he was referring to something in NJ. I inadvertantly confused High Point (State Park in NJ) with Stony Lake (Stokes State Forest - also in NJ) and melded the two inadvertantly in my brain the way we do when someone misspells an avatar and we do not catch it because we read it too quickly. Of course, I know Spruce Run because it is a short distance from my home. I did not read his post carefully (I sin which many here constantly remind me of!) You are quite correct, however, I do not know Stony Point. Where is it and what is it?

Slick, Juanito, a nice try at recovery, but I think you slipped up here.

Have you thougth of taking "Lois" to alt.mountain-bike?
