OMG!!!!!!!! First we get photos from Chiloe (Dude: climbing, hiking, biking, doggie walking...staring at your shoes at sunset--I don't care--your photos are the best!!!), and then Philo posts up his cartoon of the climbing catwoman! Meeeeeoooowwww!

Gotta tell you...it makes my heart purr to see the peeps weighing in on this thread...good peeps...peeps with class and heart and humor.

Thank you one and all. Thank you!

Pate, those first two pics above are pitches 3 and 4 of Fiddler on the Roof (5.10d), on the
left side of the South Buttress of Whitehorse. Fun climbing except for one section of black
slime, over my head in the photo by JimE below.

Nobody can say this thread is off topic!

LOL Jay! If that thing had been 20 feet off the ground, I might've been considered "a climber"!

Man it was cold that day...glad I was wearing 14 layers of long underwear...otherwise I'd look at that pix and think jersey...toooooo much jersey! ;-)

That cartoon/characiture is wonderful! L shaped tail, sitting on a peak that is a cat face. Very nice.

Sharp eyes, Bobinc gets a prize!
I sprinkled a few more on that global warming thread.
Give me half an excuse and I'll graph it.

I couldn't resist (on the graphic) but got a bit off topic. I've never met L but based on her writings and the reactions of those closer to her, I don't understand why this thread was ever started. (Some explanation was given upthread but it doesn't fully compute.)

I couldn't resist (on the graphic) but got a bit off topic.

One of my theories, I don't know if it's right, is that even off-topic and off-the-wall posts can add something to the charm of a good thread.
At the least they help keep it in play.

So in that spirit and just for bobinc, here's that graphic again:

and here's the trick:

graph twoway line eastport year0, yaxis(1) lcolor(gs12) ///
|| line easthat year0, yaxis(1) lwidth(medthick) ///
ylabel(6800(100)7200, axis(1)) yscale(range(6690,7200) axis(1)) ///
|| line gmsl year0, yaxis(2) yscale(range(-110,400) axis(2)) ///
lwidth(medthick) ///
ytitle("Global mean sea level, mm ", axis(2)) ///
ytitle("Eastport monthly sea level, mm", axis(1)) ///
ytick(-100 0 100, grid axis(2)) ///
, legend(off) yline(7000, axis(1)) xtitle("") xlabel(1880(20)2000, grid) ///
xtick(1870(20)2010) text(7075 1930 "Eastport" "sea level") ///
text(6850 1990 "Global" "sea level") note("graph: Chiloe 3/7/2010") ///
caption("data: PSMSL; Church & White 2006") ///
title("Global sea level & monthly level at Eastport, Maine")

Well, I'm sorry to be so late to this dogpile, and certainly all the good
semtiments have already been expressed...
But, the more L we get here, the better off we all are.
She's the real deal, a total package.
Entertaining, insightful, supportive, able to repair burned bridges
in a single bound...

Thanks, L!!!!!
