Whew. Glad you posters are in. The other thread was getting cool with all the Dylan dandies but I just couldn't bear seeing the OP title at the top of the 1st page anymore.

Aaawwwwwwww jeez, guys...now I'm gonna have to start my day all happy and fulla luv-vibes! (Darn it--there goes the humble and contrite db-in-recovery thing...;-))

I was actually feeling kinda good about the db thread last night...figured Graniteclimber had a right to whatever he was feeling/going through, and I had a right not to take in his virulence...but to glean the helpful lesson from his posts. LEB lived up to her full potential prior to my closing out for the night...like taxes, death and trouble, some things will never change. LOL!

HOWEVER...upon arising this fine day, I found a lovely email from Crimpie that just made my heart warm, and a couple from t*r that really made me smile, and several others who...well...dang...like I said last night, GC truly honored me with that thread of his. You never know how much you're cared for until someone like him ignites those sparks in the hearts.

And then to find this thread...it's probably gonna rain all day here in LA, but corny as it sounds, the sun's shining here in my home, and it's only gonna get brighter!

Now here's the irony...and I hope GC isn't reading this, because it'll probably piss him off again. In the Disclaimer at the end of Edzilla, which I posted Thursday (before this bru-haha), I said Edzilla was my swan song. You guys know what a swan song is, right? Well, I meant it. Like so many other peeps (folks I admire and truly like), I was truly done with the Taco. Done with the trolls and arguing politics and climbing threads turned into...well...you know.

Chiloe hardly posted anymore--I haven't seen a TR from him in ages, either, and his TR's rule. Crimpie was on hiatus for the same reason. Tarbuster...jeez, never see anything from that wordsmith. And Jello...my beloved Jello...vanished like Walleye and JimE and so many other beautiful, funny, real people. So that was my swan song. Life's too beautiful to spend it neck deep in other peeps' crapola when the diamonds are buried 4 feet under.

And then Graniteclimber--bless his little pointed head (that's a term of endearment from SNL Coneheads btw)--tried to burn me at the stake, so to speak...and instead, it turned into a love-fest.

Who knew?

How can you walk away from so much looooooooovvvvvvvveeeeeee???? LOL!

So maybe...eyes willing...I'll finish up Part III of The Lost Canyons of Zion. And then there's always the chance that someone will drag Chiloe up some looooooooooong route and he'll post up about it...and Bluering has been known to post some pretty good TR's, too...so maybe that'll happen again. And Edzilla and the BAWC haven't blasted me for exposing their "other" side...so it's still looking like home here. Disfunctional as most homes are, but home nonetheless. Just have to get the CrimpMeister and the heart-n-soul of the Taco back...to balance things out.

Thanks for reminding me of what's so good about ST, each and every one of you.

OXOXOXOX

Yeah...I believe you're right, Jeff. No biggie. There's always some gift in every discourse or disagreement...and I sincerely feel gifted by this whole thing.

Thanks for the kind words you've posted. Like I always just started saying...sometimes it takes a hole in the boat to find out which friends are gonna help you bail. ;-)

She is that...and much more, besides.

I agree, L, the Taco has not been as appealing to me of late for the reasons you've stated. But if you and Chiloe etc, etc, etc are gonna still be around, I believe I will, too.

note: the above should not be considered a diss on currtent ST activists. Fritz and Pate and many others bring good stuff, but the static has been a little thick.

it takes a hole in the boat to find out which friends are gonna help you bail

Or in this particular case, when winter comes you find out which trees are evergreens.

Edit: Maybe there's a lesson here for us. Maybe if we (you, I, any of us) are getting fed up with all the noise, we should do our part to add some signal.

I haven't posted a TR in way too long. Neither have a lot of you. Maybe if we all did, then we'd all be happier with what ST has to offer.

I'm a pretty selective reader, so I don't have any idea what the fuss-up or fuss-ups were about. I can usually tell from the title whether its something interesting about climbing, and that's pretty much all I read; I have plenty of friends with whom I can argue about most of the OT subjects in person; its climbers I don't get to talk to all that much.

And L, I don't really know you either, except for the fact that you posted a kind response to one of my TR's, which of course makes me immediately well-disposed, enough to look at this thread, for instance. I do hope you stick around, or at least check back periodically to see if the static has decreased, because the only thing that helps reduce the noise is good people who aren't making more of it themselves.
