Sketch,
First, it is commonly accepted that there is a huge bias towards eastern
and southern teams amongst pollsters.
Second, look at FSU's schedule:
Nevada? Ooooh! Bethune-Cookman? I thought that was a lower GI disorder?
Maryland How does a Terrapin hold a football?
NC State? Who knew the ball was oblong?
Wake Forest? No comment
Idaho? Sorry, Fritz, out of respect, again no comment.
Duke? Again, someone substituted the wrong kind of ball.
What, The Sisters of Mercy weren't available in 2013?
Third, they play Crackerball down there because the admissions departments'
primary criteria are 40 yd times, vertical leap, and BMI. There are more
Nobel laureates at UCLA and USC than all the schools east of the Mississippi
and south of the Mason-Dixon Line and we won't even start to include Cal's,
Stanford's, or UW's. Why do you think Pac-10/12 QB's are so disproportionately
represented in the NFL? Because they have the brains to go to good schools
that play pro-style offenses. Yes, the SEC puts out good linemen and runners
but name me one good pro QB and I'll name you 5 from the Pac-12 or Greater West (BYU).
BTW, how's that Tebow dude doin' these days? He really lit 'em up down yonder.

Sketch, I did note that the SEC produces great linemen and runners and my
assertion of their paucity of QB's was historically. But the best QB's
have ALWAYS come from the better schools, with a few exceptions to prove
the rule, such as Brett Favre. ;-)
And Cam Newton hasn't won diddly yet and Manning is the best ever in the
regular season but his post-season stats are far from scintillating.

When the Seahawks win the coin toss they usually choose to kick so they can receive in the second half...Weather here in Seattle is quite blustery at the present time. We'll see how this plays out...

yeah, looks like a wicked day for a game in Seattle.
It'll be interesting to see the 'hawks strategy if they win the coin toss.
On one hand you'd think they'd want to have the saints play into the wind in the 4th quarter.
On the other hand having Harvin take the opening kick off could really start the game off right for them.

SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!
the #1 takeaway D is bringing the lumber!
Brees' small hands clearly can't cope with gloves.
What a bullsh!t holding call on Turbin's run. If Giacomini was holding how did the defender throw a 320 pound dude to the ground?

There's some bad blood between these teams and the Refs are not stepping up to effectively take care of it.
Good game though so far, despite the spread.
Breeeze not having a good game so far

Wow, the NFL has clearly ordered NO Blowout orders to the refs.
That was so totally a fumble. Do these refs work Italian football in the off season?

Well that was tough. What a throw to Amendola. I don't think there is any doubt in my mind that Brady is the best ever.

I'm glad this is Dierdorf's last game behind a microphone.
Hearing him go on talking about the safety on the blown punt was about all I could take. Once the ball went over the punter's head, the best of all the likely outcomes was a safety. Colts were going to score at least 3 points off of that, and potentially as many as 8. But instead they were limited to 2! Whether through brilliance or luck, Patriots made the best of it.
He didn't play back before they had to wear helmets, did he? I know Aikman had his bell rung a few too many times, which accounts for the idiotic spew we hear out of him every Sunday. But I don't know what Dierdorf's handicap is.

Agree, Chaz. He has called the majority of Pats games over the last several years, and he has always driven me nuts.
