Since June 15:

The A's: 41-14 (.745, .653 pythag—so they are quote, "getting lucky" to a certain extent)
Red Sox: 40-15 (.727, .688 pythag)
Cleveland: 36-20 (.643, .689 pythag)
Yankees: 33-25 (.569, .590 pythag)

Then comes the rest of the league. Only Colorado has played better than .600 in the same stretch in the NL.

Also note, the Red Sox and Yankees have gotten fat playing TOR and BAL. Baltimore is truly horrible this year. And Cleveland gets fat playing in what is this year, a truly lousy division.

I get that the games played before June 15 also count, but I follow the A's pretty close, and they've been pretty fabulous since their starting pitching stabilized in mid-June. Calculating from their .653 pythag is a 105 win team over the course of a full season. That's a damn good team. Two months + through the height of the summer is not an insignificant part of a baseball season. Sleep on them at your peril. And that with the lowest payroll in the game.

Best of all, they've been exciting and athletic. They've been playing beautiful baseball.

“Now pitching for the Cardinals - Daniel Poncedeleon.”

He’s listed as 26. I wonder how old he really is.

Well, folks, it’s almost October. OK, it might as well be for the Dodgers. Anyway, here’s a little primer for October, not that Bob Uecker knew anything about that.

Dodgers are 70-61 and 2.5 back in the Poofters Division.
Tampa Bay is 70-61 and 19.5 behind Boston.

Hey, Uecker has a ring. He knows more about October than Ken Griffey, Jr., rod Carew, Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ty Cobb, Ted Williams, Ron Santo, etc.

and while I'm making predictions, put a fork in the Dodgers, they're done. Rockies are going to take the NL West with (perhaps) a negative run differential

OUTLANDISH!

Big Sexy has been dumped in the bullpen for the remainder of the season. The Rangers wanna "have a look at" some dude that was MIA for two years.

His second half numbers were a dropoff, but he gave them enough quality starts for a pitching depleted team. He says he'll decide over the winter if he wants one more season but it's highly doubtful anyone would sign him.

Who else might we be seeing the last of?

Joey Bats
Curtis Granderson
Albert Pujols

I saw a note the other day that Ryan Howard officially retired. I knew he kicked around the minors last year but didn't realize he was not retired yet. Hard to let go at 38 I guess.

Brew Crew vs Cubs - hella game. Brewskies’ Hader has the nastiest stuff I’ve seen in yonks.
He just schooled the heart of the Cubs lineup. 98 mph sidewinder? That ain’t right.

Brewers got themselves a hella manager. He’s definitely the skinniest in the bigs.

Really now the Cubs would play the Brewers when the playoffs start. Brewers appear to have the Cubs dialed.

Must be harder to let go at 35, especially after getting your ass kicked for 3 years and trying to keep the hope alive.

The other half of the old left side will probably be going too. (Jose Reyes)

Between the Giants and the Mariners, I'm not finding much joy in baseball. In my case, go As.

OK, things have changed, Da Bums are back from the brink. I got them going back to the show.

AL is tough but I gotta go with Houston, they have no weaknesses.
