I had a ton of fun with the extended crew and got to meet some wonderful climbing people. Thanks again to Justin for organizing the event.

I enjoyed meeting Andrej, aka Moose drool and several more whose posts I've seen on this site over the years.

Just a suggestion, adhesive name tags so we could share our given names and our screen names more easily.

Yo Moose, TRUMP, TRUMP!! Lol!

On top of all the other good stuff a very gracious Mike A let me off the hook for being a jerk at him on the taco a few years back. Great guy.

Justin,

Sorry, this is a busy week since I am going up to Courtright for the 4th weekend. Let me know when the next Southgate get-together is and I will come. I have not been to Southgate yet and am looking for another good place to drink and eat in Oakhurst.

I am sorry I did not get to meet Kris in person, but look forward to his Needles guidebook. Now the explanation of so many people in the car coming uphill when I was going out was explained. I am looking forward to the next time.

I heard a team got left behind by another then got benighted on a route, during this trip..

I heard that people were unprepared and climbed too slow and made some questionable decisions and so got benighted. They did have a fire all night so nobody froze. Nothing quite like spooning your partner all night to make you friends for life!

What route did that happen on Jan?

Wing Feather .... The story has changed somewhat, maybe a FB thing.

When ones flashlight dies, and the cell is loosing power quickly, its a pretty good idea in my book to just hunker down, build a fire and try to get some sleep and wait till morning.

A good experience for Joe on his first real climb.... he had a good teacher too.

I told those fools to rappel, take a 70m rope or take two ropes and rap the Great Depression.

Live and learn.

What I had a problem with was that their friends didn't wait back at the packs or even back at the cars. The 1st party just abandoned them to the wolves. Way bogus move there and completely thoughtless. If the 1st party had waited a bit, they all could have made it back that night.

Who all was doing the mass night ascent of Afternoon Nap? Looked like 6 or so headlamps up there on Saturday night!

Curlie,

A big group of Fresno climbers did the climb starting at about 9:30 PM.

Nice. I wonder if they froze, or had the right idea and nice temps. Not much moonlight at that time, though.

curlie..... When they returned, 2 am?, I got up to answer the call of nature....

it was a nice warm nite, I shook Joe's tent and it was still empty, I figured if you must "bivi out" at least it was warm.

I want to go to the pools where Justin and Mindy went to, are those hidden secret spots? Mike M. told me some of the best ones were at "whisky"....

time for a Shuteye, swimming hole guide.

Mike A .... get on that one OK?

happy 4th to you all

Weather was so warm, I can't imagine a better intro to unplanned bivies. No real danger, just a fun story and maybe some teeth chattering if fear of intimacy is an issue. Or maybe Joe "became a man" that night? It gets lonely in the mountains.

I'd recommend against this. Word of mouth is a far better way to share swimming holes :)

DMT

I tend to agree. Climbing guides are different. The swimming holes would degrade quickly. But I think Guyman was kinda kidding.

I've been 'guided' to some good ones over the years, but I have no idea how to get back to them. I was not driving and was probably half-drunk en-route.

I think I remember some by Red Eagle.

Well, it used to be awesome, until the eastern European immigrants took it over.

Go back to Hamtramck!

I' have to get back out, and I've been given clearance from the family. I get to roll solo.

No dogs, no wife, and no son. Just me and the Ridge. I love it all, but climbing is best suited for independent adventurers.

Justin and Jeremy, check yer f*#king e-mails. I'm coming. I'll prolly meet you guys at BS. I'll be in touch.

Where the f*#k is Mossedrool too, that guy is everywhere! Adrej!

Anybody wants to climb at Shuteye next weekend let me know! I can provide a commute, maybe.
