Tradman, they make left handed AR's.
There's no problem shooting a right handed AR, left handed...
but the mag release, bolt catch, safety, and ejection port will all be on the "wrong" side.

And if you open your mouth it works as an effective brass catcher.

I am ambi with most long guns depending on the sight set up. I am right handed but my right eye is no good so I have to get my head pretty far over to use my left eye. Shotguns and heavy kickers I allways shoot lefty but lighter guns I like to be able to switch back a forth @ will so I am not suer I could make up my mind to buy a lefty or righty without putting some rounds through one first...

The lower receivers are right handed even on the left handed AR's.
Normally you would just put an ambidextrous safety selector, an extended bolt catch/release, and an ambidextrous mag release on a right handed lower and it will work great either way.
The left handed uppers (Stag Arms)are truly left handed.
The forward assist, and ejection port are all on the left.

Just one of the reasons I like my Ithaca 37.
The bottom eject makes it ambi so clearing around a corner clockwise makes it no problem to shift.
I've seen guys do "poor man's skeet" by ejecting shells high and far and then using them as airborne targets (not that easy!)

(The sear retention/release makes it cool because you can hold down the trigger and pump to shoot like the old trench brooms.)

Uh,.. Karen,

you need to teach the proper finger position for safe weapons handling sooner rather than later.

Ok....lol....I do not claim to be an expert by any means, my son and his buddies go shooting fairly often, I figure he knows what he is doing.

No, that's not an M16-A1...an M16-A1 is the original M16,
early Nam era, full auto. (Worth $17,000+)

That looks like an M4-A3 type AR.
M4 has notched barrel for grenade launcher attachment,
shorter barrel and hand guards.
The A3 means it has a detachable carry handle.
Nice gun anyways.

In fact, that looks like a Bushmaster M4-A3 with the Izzy brake.

I'm sure that running around the jogging squad with the rifle over his head would quickly learn 'im that you don't put your finger on the trigger until the target is in your sights,..lol

paganmonkeyboy,
you should be ok with the newer $800.00 variants
which seem to be todays going price.

The decades old mandated transfer tax under (USC) which is
$200.00 appears is now being paid unlike with the Chinese,
Russian and Yugo versions being imported and sold for under
$200.00 for decades here in the US.

Keep to mind "any sale" requires a $500.00 permit on top of
the $200.00 and manufacture a $1000.00 permit. Re-sale for
collectors value appears to be the only valid sale otherwise
depreciation makes them worthless business wise.

Karen, just thinking that he knows what he is doing dosen't really cut it. When he has (note I said when not if) an Accidental Discharge it could drasticly change all your lifes forever in an instant........
