I'm joining you Werner. If the largest religion in the most poweful counry can't understand or follow one of its primary tenets. Love your enemy. Then we are doomed. Lets go howl at the next full moon. WW3 can't be far off.

Love your enemies. As long as they are nice to you and do everything you want them to. Jesus, even a wanking philostine like myself can love someone when they are nice and follow my orders. I guess I am saved.

Edit: that is if you will have me. I can't seem to live up to your standard.

Of course I know my "religion" is the right one. Why else would I "practice" it or believe in it? Conservatives don't usually accuse liberals of not having open minds, it is usually the other way around. I brought that point up to show the hypocrisy I was dealing with.

Jody,
my religion is agnosticism. it is the right religion

Dear crowley,

It's not my position ot intent to explain anyone else's position other than possibly engaging in pure theoretical speculation.

You alone here are the master of,

the asinine assumption.

I would never deny you that charter.

So .....

If we miss one point there will be mistake in our calculation.

Regardless of what we add or subtract, after that the mistake is already in the calculation and everything that follows will also be faulty.

Thus we need perfect knowledge.

Perfect knowledge descends.

The astronauts failed in their ascending knowledge quest.

Jody,

I am apologizing for my tone. I have been out of sorts with myself and with the world and for the most part I just feel Pissy. I apologize for coming on so strong and not working more towards better understanding. I still think you need to look further into understanding what it means to love your enemies but at this point I am not the one to help you understand this. I still have a great big log in my eye. It is impossible to take the speck out of anothers eye when one is hampered in such a manner.

I really do hope that you will read "I Love Jesus, I Hate Christianity" by Kim Michaels as he is better at explaining the things I believe. You should know that at the begining of the book he explains that he doesn't really hate Christianity and he certainly doesn't hate Christians but he his trying to wake people up to how far from Jesus' teachings the current Christian church is. I wish you well and once again I apologize for my tone. I haven't really lived up to the standard I have asked you to be. Too many attachments to outcome. Please keep posting the pictures. They are awesome.

So

All conditioned souls have 4 defects.

We make mistakes, cheat, have imperfect senses and are illusioned.

So these 4 imperfections render all knowledge coming from "scientific research" practically useless.

That is the real point.

Hey Werner,

Thats why Jesus taught to listen to the still small voice within as it is your guide out of illusion. Its just that i keep telling mine to take a flying leap. That and my ego has learned to mimic the still small voice so now I have to learn to recognize what is ego.
ugh....this can sure seem complicated. Its like trying to learn to fly with your eyes closed and 4 beers in your belly. Your gonna crash a lot before you get it figure out.

"I think the real point is that everything experienced by conditioned souls is "practically useless," including our experience of "conditioned souls."

That is a particularly sad and ultimately self distructive neihilistic view.

It would also follow that all of the "science" of those same souls would be equaly "practicaly useless".

If there's no possibility of knowing anything, significant, including ourselves, or beyond that, then the conclusion is that we are just a virus uppon the earth, just taking up space.

I listen to the self realized soul. The small voice in my head is trouble maker.

But Christ is guru of Christians.

If one thinks they are the body and have no understanding of the soul then "science has failed". Science without the soul is only on the bodily concept.
Ouch!

Where these .12 guage thumpers fail muster is that pure Christianity is about souls and not mortal lives. Their faith will carry them only just short of harm's way. They should be in Iraq, passing the collection plate and converting suicide bombers.

Hey Jody, thanks.....I hope that you will understand that my concern isn't just with world affairs, it is with the current condition of the Christian religion. I believe Jesus came to show a radically new way. The way of Peace, not war. Forgiveness, not revenge.

Thanks for the link in the email you sent me. I looked at it and frankly find it disheartening. It seems to take the power right out of Love and instead advocate force. I hope that you will consider reading the long post I made earlier. The one from my teacher. I wish you peace Brother.

I hope you will look at Crowley's last post and see humor instead of attack. God doesn't need you or me to defend him. God is unassailable. It is only our carnal mind which thinks God must be protected. Instead, God needs us to be the light which is Love.

Thats pretty funny Crowley.

Peace

Weschrist (I think) said: "You claim YOU exist now... right? Prove it... objectively."

By communicating with you, I think I've proven that. By tapping the keys of my computer I damn well prove there is an external world detached from my inner one. Yeah, you could go all Descartes on me and say something like: "Well, how can you prove you not imagining everything? How can you trust your senses? Everything can be a dream or something." My answer to that is simply: Cut DOWN on the dope, dude! You can't live by ideas like that, and, what's even more interresting in this context: You Don't! No one does.

And BTW, just posing such a thought doesn't prove it. Even IF you think I, or anyone else, still haven't proven that there is an external world (which is the same for ALL people), YOU haven't proven your point! Prove to me that truth is subjective.... objectively.

Can the world be both 6000 years old and 4,5 billion years old at the same time? Take that as an example. Now prove to me that both presumed ages of the earth is true. In reality, the only defence you have against "truth is objective" is a shitty philosofical idea that no one lives by, or cares for. Not even you, except when pressured.

Jody said: "By the way, the 289+ posts in this thread prove the point of my OP. :)"

That I/we/unbelievers/skeptics lack something? No, you haven't proved that. All you've proven is that people (including yourself, if you haven't noticed) like to discuss the subject.

(Wes, sorry for sounding a bit harsh. No offence, eh?)
