Well, since some of you don't mind a big gun for carry:
FN P-90
H&K MP7

But come on now, if you are really prepared, you would have some claymore's strung along the base, and a sniper covering you from the treeline.

"But where exactly is the bouldering so good that its worth a turf war?"

They are starting one in Oak Flat AZ with the mining company.

Claymores are frowned upon because they sometimes damage the holds, but its always nice to get a little coverage.

When it comes to mining companies one of the best weapons is sand.
It has no ballistic signature when found in the crank case of a bulldozer.

But never forget the eleventh commandment.

Hi Ron,

Great informative post! The model number on the S&W is "SW380"

Come on Ron, being a Libertarian and all that wasn't a very Libertarian remark. Aren't you all for property rights?

Quite right.

If you want the turf . Buy it competitively.

Ecotage is only ethically justifiable if the land rapers are cheating.

Don't know the .380. I'm a big S&W fan when it comes to revolvers, but with the exception of my Devel (a one of a kind FR conversion no less) their autos have proved a bit lackluster.

And autos ARE the way to go for a lot of combat scenarios. Sometimes with the Les Baer it seems like I only have to THINK about what I want to hit and its done!

Still, the fastest revolver in the world is no small accomplishment. I got me a 625 and a pocket load of moons and a great demooner.
Just LOVE it.
Charlie Fowler shot some video of me making the cans run and hide last year.

The 625 (or even the 610) and the Les Baer would top the list of combat handguns. But that's an apples and oranges prioritization.

My choice is clear unless I know I'm going to get dirty.

Les Baer, no bull.

Piton Ron, all good points, and no doubt,
Les Baer makes some of THE finest .45's anywhere,
but most 1911 style .45's only hold 7 rounds.
I have also found because of the lower recoil of
the 9mm round and as you pointed out the weight of the Baby Eagle, I can double and triple tap at a much higher speed and degree of accuracy.
BTW I have the Baby Eagle with the decocker not just the safety.
(that's not mine in the photo).

But obviously it comes down to personal choice
and what works best for you.

PS: This is where I'll be next weekend, shooting a bunch of machine guns!

Hey shack.
You oughta see my IMI collection. Sweet pieces.

The slide mounted decocker is what I was talking about. (You can call stuff a safety as long as you know it never is.) This requires a more complex and rehearsed action of thumb extension combined with index finger contraction.
I far prefer the more instinctive duality of thumb CONTRACTION with index contraction.

Most of my 1911 clips hold eight (and a couple of extended hold more) and the .45 trumps the .40 ballistically and anecdotely. And while I'm still a BIG fan of 9mm I know its anemic limitations.
In a firefight its not enough to mortally wound your opponent.
You have to neutralize the threat immediately.

If you want a testimonial to my double tap ability ask Biggs or Cleary about the one that I did 2 months ago just outside Toker City.

Also, the first shot often comes from the lighter gun.

You like full auto?
I like Ma Deuce.
Unless I gotta tote it.
Then I like the M249 SAW.

I was at the Soldier Of Fortune demo when they did the Firepower Display at the range west of Vegas the year that prompted all the new regs and restrictions. Bunch of anal killjoys. Hell nobody was hurt TOO bad and we have wildfires all the time.

Thought it was funny that evening hearing Randy Grandstaff bitch about all the noise at his place a few miles away. You could tell at the demo who had neglected to bring earplugs. You might say they temporarily lost the use of their hands.

Ouch has the best suggestion. Last I knew no registration was needed for cap and ball pistols. Throw it in a dumpster, and you're home clean as a whistle.

If you need modern firepower, however, the Berretta .25 ACP is where it's at.

This I gotta see.
They called a Colt Walker Dragoon a horse pistol because it was too heavy to carry and people would fix their holsters onto their saddles. Also the cloud that resulted every time it was fired was, shall we say, telltale.

That picture is a Colts 1851 Navy. .36 Cal. Bought it in North Dakota about 30 years ago. Was said to be a limited production of originals where they picked up where the serial numbers ended in the 1800s.

I have an old .44 that I would cram all the FFF I could get into the cylinders and still seat a bullet or ball. It has a hair trigger and is deadon at 60 yards with a fine bead. Shot a deer with it one time and hit him on the top of the head. Antlers just kinda folded over.

If I needed a gun to climb, I think I would just wait for the elevator.

Hard to tell scale in the photo. Army means .44, and Navy .36.

I held one of the Dragoons recently and couldn't believe the weight, but I guess their muzzle energy wasn't equalled until the late twentieth century. People shot point blank that weren't killed outright got to smell their flesh cooking from the hot gases injected.

But Shirley you can't be serious!
I'm all for retro, but only if it works well.
Hell I've been plugging a 1911 for chrisakes.
Cap and ball?

How about just shooting people legally with something quicker to reload so you don't NEED a tossable piece.

My truck broke down about 60 miles out of El Paso one cold Jan night. Me and a pretty coed all alone in the middle of nowhere. Sitting Ducks.

Its 3:30 am and a toyota truck stops behind us. The truck just sits there for 15 min, then slowly drives foward. I am thinking great, what does this idiot intend to do.

Juan, removes the safety of the .38 and makes the pistola hot.
Hollow point bullets are now online. Gun in my lap ready to dispatch the threat.

The guy pulls along side.

Driving through the Pineridge Reservation about 2:00 AM. Pulling a U-Haul with everything I own. Wife and month old baby in car. I get a flat tire on the rear. An old car pulls up, reeking of booze. I ask the several guys inside to go back to the town and send a repairman out. They don't say anything. Just turn around and leave. They come back in a few minutes and park behind me about 50 yards with the lights off. I tell my wife to roll up the windows and lock the doors. I get out an old Webley .455 and stick it in my belt. My flashlight gives out. With one eye on them and by feel, I jack the trailor off with a bumperjack, jack up the car and change the tire and jack the trailor back on, all the time scared shitless for my wife and baby. I start up the car and drive on and these dudes follow me for a long way
with the lights off. My hands were bleeding in a dozen places. At the time, there were several old survivors of Wounded Knee on the Rez. I never drove that road again after dark. Not being racist. It didn't matter who they were. They still worried me.

A .38 with a safety.

Must be a .38 superauto.

Juan is either ahead of his time or full of beans.

Ma won't be there this weekend, but the M60 will.
My buddy just bought a brand new US Ordinance M60 and
I'll be taking the factory Armorers Course.
We'll also be shooting an MP-5 w/ beta mags, an M-16A2 w/ beta mags, a Glock 19 (Weeeeee!),
an AK-47, a FN-Fal, HK-51, an UZI, etc.
I can't wait.

The M60 has a lot of history and I think that's where it belongs.
Sorry, I just think there are better things to be fed with a belt. Its not very portable. Changing barrels could be easier. About all it has going for it is the round and the rate.

I DO like the MP 5. Not many that don't huh? But the MP 10 holds the bolt after the last shot so is a quicker recharge, and a 10mm out of a carbine/SMG really zings.

Don't you mean a Glock model EIGHTEEN? The 19 is a compact semiauto. The 18 is the one that empties a 30 round clip in 1.9 seconds.

The trouble is.....27 of them go through the ceiling.

Oops typo! Of course the Glock 18.
The key is to us the stock that
is available for it.
Damn I wish I could post video here!

If your a badass like my buddy, you dont't need that either.

Duh, Ron, who doesn't like the m249? But who's got the
$250,000 for a legally transferable one?
