Why do you think they call it a pool table?

That's a lot of water coming down to the desert. I bet the birds are happy, but all the other poor animals burrowed into the ground are probably pretty freaked out.

I have to admit I am surprised to read that only a few inches of water is all it takes to float a car.

BTW, although there hasn't been a drop here (yet, big thunderheads), 20 miles north it rained 2" in an hour and the creek a quarter mile from here is bank full.

Happi,
you surprise me.
A few inches overall can funnel into a more confined area. Thats where the trouble happens.

It's a known fact that Russ preparing to cut ledge tubing brings on rain. Serious! It just happens.

"A few inches overall can funnel into a more confined area. Thats where the trouble happens."

I didn't think about it in that way. I thought they meant that, for example, if a road had a water level of a few inches, THAT would be what could make the car float enough to be carried with the current.

I hope I'm not sounding to Lois-y by writing this but.....I was thinking that a rain report of a few inches wasn't that big a deal(here in the east, not in the desert, of course).

I was going to mail this thread to 10b4me since I know he's long had a JT flash flood fantasy... but I see he's already on top of it. :-)

Pretty cool stuff as long as no body gets hurt.

Flash floods are serious jive. Hopefully the Josh Gang aren't involved in any of those. Streets fill up, but the FF destroy.

I had a bit of a flash flood on Solid Gold one time. Skies looked stormy as I started the first pitch. It started to rain when i was near the belay. I clipped in and the heavens opened up. In 1 minute the route was a waterfall and my partner didn't want to leave the ground. I rapped with the water flowing over.
I realized at the belay that the gold streak exists because it is the drainage for that side of the dome.

Russ, didn't anyone ever teach you not to stand in a photo shop? Just save The Big Board, for all our sakes.
