That's the 'expendable' organ, Dude. Though I agree that more regulation just attracts those who would be regulators.....

I'm opposed to both permits and vague "rangers broke into my truck" stories.

Anytime you want to enact new rules you should have to prove that the new rules will solve some problem. I think the burden lies with you spleen to prove that a permit system will keep the rangers out of your car.

The rangers can and do go into cars for reasons mentioned above in this thread. I don't see how them knowing your going to bail from the nose in 3 days will keep them out of your car for those same reasons permit or not.

So . . to answer your question. No permits!

Amen... anyone else here had your car busted into by da man in front of El Cap or elsewhere? Seems like there's way more to this story that this dude isn't spilling. Gotta ask, why not?

Permits or knot, I will climb what & where I please. Might have to put the Glock back into the haulbag.

Indeed. Maybe that's why speed ascents are so popular, it's a faster moving target.

Permits lead to fees, fines and further regulation.
I'm supprised that's not obvious to you.

Here's a thought, why don't "YOU" just go through the pain in the ass of telling the rangers your every move and leave the rest of us minions out of your little communication crusaide.

If you want permits, move somewhere like China you pink bastard.

I (as well as the vast majority of climbers) relish in the right to climb whatever and where ever I/they please.

I think technically you could get a wilderness permit for El Cap, or any climb with a bivy. It's just not enforced.

So if you want them to track you and know when you are supposed to be down you probably could get a wilderness permit if you really wanted.
